Oilers 5 cups, Eskimos 13 Grey Cup wins.
Flames 1 cup, Stampeders 6 grey cup wins.

You guys can make fun of Edmonton all you want, the Oilers have a much better team now and going in to the future than the flames. The Oilers are very close on becoming a powerhouse team.

Funny thing is the Flames have missed the playoffs for 4 straight years now and i don't see them making the playoffs for the next 4/5 more years.

Ah the offseason, what a beautiful time of the year for an Oiler fan. God bless you my child.

Off-season dream: Oilers will be a powerhouse team.

Late season reality: Oilers are a power-out team.

You just couldn't help falling for it could you? Now you'll just get laughed at and shouted down.

By the way, nobody cares about the CFL and how many gray cups you have. It's irrelevant to your Flames vs. Oilers point.
Oh and, Edmonton is the city of losers, in case you haven't heard. Your team lost in Penticton today too.

They've been very close for 20-some years now, so what's one more year? Enjoy the next step if it ever happens, also known as "Being eliminated by the Stars for the next decade".

That's almost as bad as *actually* missing for seven straight seasons, but not quite.

There is no way to not have this come off as arrogant, but regardless, I'll mention to you that it isn't meant to belittle.

I'm genuinely glad I read this post in here. The Oiler organization is such a revolving embarrassment - I was truly worried their fans wouldn't defend them anymore. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to watch the Kevin Lowe Show year in, year out, with no hope for improvement.

So, while you think you've come in here and made Flames fans upset with your post, I can tell you I'm quite happy to see the delusion has not worn off yet. A lot of what I love about this province is Edmonton's hilarious inability to see themselves objectively. Faith restored, at least for now.

I look forward to passing Edmonton during their perpetual rebuild.

Some of you will recall that a little while ago, I compared the Oilers to Snoopy pretending to be a flying ace. Here's Exhibit A.

I lived in Edmonton for 8 years before moving back to Lethbridge, and I really appreciated how much their fans love their team. It rips out their very souls when they lose. However, with that amount of love, they're also the absolute most delusional group of sports fans I have ever seen. And the media supports it. The media there, and hence a lot of fans, actually see their "youngstars" as a Gretzky, 2 Messiers and a Kurri.

On another note, I'm thinking of watching Oil Change, Season 8 this year.

You must be new to Calgary, because we do, in fact, make fun of Edmonton all we want. It's a great time.

I'm just curious though, what was the indication you got that Edmonton was a "much better team now"?

Was it the 3 extra OTL you guys got last season?
Was it the 3 less goals you scored? (With all those offensive "stars"... curious)
Was it being above us in the standings... for the second time in an entire decade?
Was it moving from 29th in the league to 24th?

Sorry, I'm just confused. I guess you must be too. It must be nice living in Edmonton, that sulfur coated air is like fairy dust, tricking you into thinking your city is relevant in any way at all.

What a magical thought.

Funny thing is, I'm not even convinced this guy isn't a Flames fan who just posted as the classic caricature of the delusional Edmonton fan. Bravo!

The Oilers are a joke if an organization and one of the worst ran teams in sport. Guys like Spector think the flames have the same road to climb but the fact is Edmonton has failed in their rebuild. There have been 4 drafts since Taylor Hall was drafted and outside the top picks and no other prospects have really developed into NHLers. Where are all the 2nd, 3rd round picks?

I am getting a little ahead of myself but Gaudreau, Wortherspoon, Granlund, Sieloff, Gillies all look pretty good and will help speed things up in Calgary. 3 first round picks in in the deepest draft in a decade also helps.

The fact K-Lowe is still in charge is ridiculous

Funny timing, but apparently Edmonton is going to change the slogan from "City of Champions" to "Make Something Edmonton".

Even they have realised how awful they are.

Don't have the link at the moment, but it's on the Herald website.

Here ya go

Edmonton city council is set to vote next week on a motion to retire the "City of Champions" slogan in favour of a new handle, "Make Something Edmonton."

The proposal gained more traction Friday night after the latest loss for the Edmonton Eskimos to that dastardly football team down the Queen Elizabeth II Highway.

For the second season in a row and the fourth time in the last five seasons, the Calgary Stampeders swept the Labour Day series with a 22-12 victory under the lights before a crowd off 33,654 at Commonwealth Stadium.
