And again! That's just absurd.

EDIT: And then gets lucky with a stretch backhand going just barely over the net cord. Big test for that vaunted Fernandez mental resilience here.

Net cord winner and we're off to the tie-break.

Leylah, why do you have to do this to my heart? Seriously I'm going to have to up my cardio routine if I want to keep watching this stuff, it's getting ridiculous.

Congrats to Shelby, that was a heck of a comeback today. As for Leylah, tough one, but you played fantastic tennis today.

Damn.

Well, what can you do. I said it a couple of pages ago: Leylah is beatable but you have to go for your shots and hit them, and Rogers did so. Along with some excellent serving, that'll get the job done. Nothing to be ashamed of for Leylah, though I wish she'd served better in the tiebreak.

Shelby ate a Super Mario Bros starman and became invincible line painter/pong CPU. if that was her real everyday game, she wouldn't be world #44.

still great experience for Leylah. she will have to play a lot of tight service games just because her size won't allow her to bomb it, but keep on working on that 1st % and some additional direction and it won't be the giant black hole it is for the Canadian men.

Leylah wants a re-do of that drop set at 4-4 in the tie-break.

I think there are a few shots where she didn't have to go for outright winners where she did and missed that she should want back. It seemed like she got into a space where Rogers was painting lines so she felt like she should respond in kind, and went for those shots too early in the rally, before they were high-percentage. Hopefully that's a learning opportunity for her.

Pretty much my same thoughts. This was a good experience for her playing a player like Shelby that was in beast mode. Leylah first serve will have to become stronger if she's gonna match up well to opponents that are feeling it like Rogers did.

Okay, so now we can all cheer on Andy Murray as he takes on the alleged domestic abuser.

/Already up a break in set 1

Leylah / Coco did not advance, but Shapo / Bopanna took out the all German duo of Zverev / Struff.

It sounds like Leylah has joined Bianca on the sidelines and will not be representing Canada at the BJK Cup. She hasn't officially pulled out yet, but certainly hinted at it during the presser last night.

Dimitrov was down a double break in set 2 after dropping the first set to Medvedev, 15 minutes later Medvedev is serving at 4-5 to stay in set 2.

Edit: Grigor rattles off five games in a row from 4-1 down in set 2 to force a 3rd set.

My goodness, Grigor is on a heater. 8 straight games and counting.

Edit: The run ends at 8, but Dimitrov is up a break at 1-4 in set 3 (Medvedev serving).

Wow, what a comeback by Grigor to win 4-6 6-4 6-3. Great to see him playing well again after contracting COVID-19 back in 2020.
