Default Drastic changes in LA

Selling didn't seem like the best option given the circumstances, so the Kings have moved some pieces around to see if we can garner some chemistry.

To Los Angeles
Tyler Seguin
Carl Grundstrom
2022 2nd owed (first to be procured by the Sharks before the draft)

To San Jose
Roman Josi
Alex Barre-Boulet

This one hurt a little, as Josi is going to re-rate as a monster, but I've always liked Seguin, and watching the last game against the Flames, it looked like he has not lost a step. Grundstrom and the 2nd offset some of the drop in quality from Josi.

To Los Angeles
Mark Giordano
Jack Finley

To Washington
Christian Dvorak

Dvorak is doing really well in the SIM, and I think that he will get better IRL as the Habs figure things out. Seguin coming in made him expendable, and Gio is my Josi replacement. That contract is an issue if he doesn't re-rate well, but that's only an issue for one year.

After it's all said and done, it's swapping forward strength and defensive strength, and playing the lottery. The 2nd rounder is a 2nd rounder, and Grundstrom and Finley are both prospects that like to throw their weight around. I'm hoping that translates into good DF/CK ratings going forward. Looking for some of that skating correction in Tampa Bay that worked so well with Point and Cirelli (for Finley)!

Sharks had immediate regret after trading two D studs. We like the Pasta return and hope Liane and his moustache will ‘grow on us’, but being able to acquire a legit top D without having to give up another young player like Tkachuk or Landeskog is good.

Well Giordano's injury has created speculation on if Blaster really is a mediocre GM and if Gio is being traded.

Marc Giordano makes a mockery of the trading process. Feigning injury to his Achilles, he begs to remain in Washington, where he is the secret power behind the 'democratic' throne. GM Bagopucks, innocent bystander in Giordano's insidious game of cat and mouse, is caught in the existential crossfire. In an attempt to bring light to Giordano's backroom dealings and shadowy 'injuries', the GM of LA has transcendentally agreed to allow a positive flow of value towards Washington in there next dealing, whenever that will be. Should a hockey deal be essentially 'one for one', with perfect balance achieved, an inexplicable distant year 5th round pick may find it's way East.

LA would like to thank the Capitals GM for being a standup guy, and bringing attention to Giordano's 'injury'.

In unrelated news :

LA has traded Christian Dvorak and a 2023 4th to the TB Lightning for Ryan "Steve" McDonagh and ECHLer Kirill Kirsanov. TB also receives a stipend of 750K to spend as they wish.

McDonagh fills the void left by the departure of Josi, and Kirsanov is a player that we were disappointed to miss out on at the draft. A pure defensive defenseman, he fits the mould of a future Cernak. Every team should always be prepared with a Cernak.

The loss of 750K in cap greased the wheels of the trade happening before the next time that the Kings take the ice, leaving no gap on the blueline. Oddly, the availability of these funds link back to the loss of David Rittich to the Wild due waiving, releasing and free agency. The Kings are back to a neutral cap after all of the roster changes.

After seeing how Giordano deal fell through due to an injury, and the Lightning’s injury season so far, Tampa Bay couldn’t risk a similar fate for McDonagh.

After beating the kings in a nail biter, the two teams consummated the deal that would send one of the top performers in the game, Christian Dvorak, to sunny Florida. Clearing cap also helps a bit, as the lightning are trying to slowly, but surely make some room to bring up Andreas Johnsson from the minors
