Yeah I’m impressed with the passion.
You already know Canada will play just good enough to break your hearts.

Is this the biggest match for Canada since that fateful day in Honduras in 2012(?)
I'd say so. Thankfully we seem to be on a different trajectory as when the Honduran Horrorshow happened, but the US is always a formidable opponent. Cautiously optimistic.

Anyways, the 20 of us in Calgary who actually care will be at the Rose and Crown Tuesday night...
In this case, it's more than just lack of interest too. Tonight, TSN and Sportsnet have five Canadian NHL teams playing, the NLCS and while it's going to be replays, two Euro Championship qualifiers. Every single one of those events will pull 10-1000x the viewership that the CANMNT will.

It is kinda hard not to get excited about this game. I'd like to think that there is more then a zero percent chance that Canada wins, which is much more then they could say for a long time.

If Canada had a back line I'd say they had a legit chance... I'd love to see a win but I'm expecting the attackers to get a goal or two and the backline to give up 1 more than that. Hope I'm wrong. If they win this game it will put them in a world cup spot and probably only need a draw away to advance in nations league and qualify which would be insane.

This sums up being a CanMNT supporter. "I've set the bar slightly above rock bottom, which is higher than it has been for years and I'm SO PUMPED!"

Not mocking you - I feel it too.

Maybe it's the Canadian soccer supporter pessimism that I've been so conditioned to speaking, but I'm expecting no better than a 2 goal defeat in front of a half empty BMO Field.

Yeah and while that’s sensible. The other consideration is that both Sportsnet and TSN have what...5 channels each? I know I’m in the wrong thread and it’s a gear grinder, but they should be allowed to get a license for that many channels if they’re never going to show five different events at the same time. I haven’t looked, but I assume tonight that the NLCS will be on at least 3 if not 4 channels? That’s generally the case.

The problem is that most people in Canada don't get all 5 channels - they get 1 and which one it is varies across the country. I'd be pretty pissed off if they put the game on Sportsnet Ontario and I only have Sportsnet West. Or it's on TSN1 but in my region TSN4 is the one included with cable packages. Not that I have any idea why TSN doesn't have one national channel and then the rest regional to avoid these issues.

A defensive deadlock this is not. Really wide open. I am telling myself that this benefits Canada. We seem to have had the better chances so far.

Wow Canada looks the most competitive I have ever seen them again the US tonight. Definitely some of that top level club quality demonstrated by a few of them.

That was a hell of a first half. A little more precise on their chances and Canada are up. Need Cavallini up front in the second half.

Referee definitely from the Concacaf School of Officiating, but could be so much worse. Pleased with Canada's play so far. The US looks quite disorganized. Davies and David running them ragged, just no finishing.

I could even see Hoilett teeing up some shots given the amount of space the US are giving on the edge of the box. I'd probably let Davies/David run them a little more for 20 minutes and then swap one of them out of Cavallini or Hoilett.

Wouldn't mind seeing a proper fullback as well. Laryea is a winger, Miller is a CB, neither are good enough at this level. Bring on Adekugbe!
