No Roark or Yamaguchi.

Good.

Pleasantly surprised they left Roark off. He's been such a mess this season.

No Romano or Merryweather though. That really sucks.

I really like the look of the roster. I expect them to put up a really good fight against the Rays. The Rays might sneak past them but I don't think it will be easy at all.

I'm stoked to see what Shoemaker can do today.

Offensively, the healthiest we’ve been all season. Not a single significant absence.

Not sure of Rowdy’s status yet if he’s just a PH off the bench, but what a weapon to even just have on paper to make things harder for the Rays to matchup pitchers late in games

One thing is for sure, without Roark, Font and Yamaguchi on the roster the Jays team ERA takes a massive nosedive into respectability.

Super excited. Cautiously optimistic. Hella nervous. Very impatient. Running a gauntlet of feelings/emotions this morning.

Roark will be back if the Jays get past the Rays. They can readjust their roster between series and Roark was never going to pitch in the first three games and he can't help out of the bullpen but they'll need all the starters for subsequent series.

Not sure why it's Shoemaker and not Walker... Shoemaker has the better splits vs. Lefties this year (which is a small sample size) so I guess that would be the argument.

Tough draw, Tampa has so few weaknesses... but it's a three game series that's as close to a crapshoot as you can get in baseball so we have the proverbial punchers chance.
Yes, partially because Shoemaker has better splits against lefties, but primarily, it's because Shoemaker is actually Shoemaker/Ray, due to the fact that Shoemaker will only be able to throw 50-60 pitches (at most).

With them being a rightie and a leftie, that causes problems for Tampa's lineup.

Walker earned his position as one of the 3 starters, but he doesn't match up well against the Rays. Getting Ray into game one (along with Borucki and probably Kay), and having Ryu in game 2, gives the Jays the most left-handed innings they can get out of the first 2 games. And that gives them their best chance of winning.

It was really sounding like Romano would be ready - very unfortunate.

Smart decision as Grichuk has been red hot this past week almost hitting .400

Who's the better hitter? Who deserves to be hitting there?

There's an old saying in baseball: momentum can take you as far as tomorrow's starting pitcher.

Now, it may be the case that Grichuk has had success in the past against Snell, which would add credence to the decision. But nonetheless, I would start the playoffs by going with my best players.

90 minutes left. I am cautiously optimistic about this. Like very cautious. Okay, I'm a little scared. Medium scared?

Go Blue Jays!
