Yeah thats complete BS. 'Completely Random.'

I know they have to toe that line, but we all know there are certain things that the system automatically flags.

The frustrating part is like you said, its the same thing, over and over and over, the system is completely inflexible and doesnt adapt.

And its something that I've been struggling with for a while as a smaller operator.

A client gets Re-Assessed for Medical over and over again, they dont know how to meet the Re-Assessment requirements on their own so they come to me.

I know its going to be a fair amount of work and I can get a good sense of when its going to be successful or not.

But its still a lot of work for something thats going to net-out Zero in the end at best, it doesnt seem fair to bill the client for something that isnt their fault and that they dont net benefit from, but at the same time I'm doing more work and its taking more time.

Its 'damned if you do and damned if you dont.'

But Revenue Canada dont care. Their magic computer just churns out these 'random' Re-Assessments.

On the upside, the reassessment was pretty painless. Just scan the required documents and upload them to the CRA website with the file number they gave me. When I had a question, the person on the other end of the phone was pretty pleasant and helpful.

You're a lucky man. Uploading Documents to CRA's Database can be touch and go at times but I will admit the automated processes have begun running much smoother than their manned services.

Actually just a party for the sake of dancing and partying, for us old people who still like to dance but are too old for clubbing. No theme or even a requirement to dress up. Just friends and friends of friends, a private venue with a dancefloor, some snacks, BYOB and plenty of room to chill.

Party started at six, dancefloor opened around seven, I got home at about 2 AM after locking the doors. Perfect for us old people (late thirties - early fourties.). You could get in 6 hours of dancing if you liked and still get up the next day to pick up the kids from where ever you stored them to get the night off.

We actually split the DJ job with another guy, so even the DJ's had time to dance and chat with people, and share ideas. Since our only job description was to get people to dance, we went pretty wild with genre mixing. For example we had approximately this discussion at one point: "How fast do you think we can get from here (currently playing Abba) to Infected Mushroom?". "Maybe five people in this party have even heard of Infected Mushroom." "Infected rocks, we can sell it." "True. Half an hour?" "Ooh, challenge accepted!"

The only thing I hated about DJ'ing is when people request stuff you know would zap the party.

Like come on, everyone is dancing and having a good time and your shocked I don't want to play Adele?

Shawnski DJ'ed my wedding, and despite a few angry protests here and there (from the more vocal bridesmaid), he kept everyone up and the party going until the end of the night.

He had a good feel for the crowd, whereas our friend didn't.

P.S. Anyone seen Shawnski in a while? He might be before your time polak.

Personal opinion: not a huge fan of Light my Fire (totally overplayed and not really that dancable anyway), and I'm not sure what Abba song would come before that. ABBA tends to be so much better produced than Light My Fire that the latter would sound flat I think. And remixes are cheating if you're trying to sell a band. Plus the Riders of the Storm -remix isn't really a dance song.

In general the point was to fill the floor with people in their fourties raving to something like psytrance even though most of them wouldn't think of it as something they'd dance to if you just played it out of the blue. The point isn't to just connect the dots musically, it's to keep people dancing every step of the way. That's the fun.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong and it would work. For me the most fun moments in DJ:ing is when somebody makes something work that at face value sounds like it should never work. It's about the night and the audience and the right moment.

I don't unfortunately remember those particular steps. All I remember was that we were at Voulez-Vous (love that production porn), and the second last song was Voodoo People (Pendulum mix) before Becoming Insane.

It's Spirit Week here at school and today is "Clash Day" where one is expected, nay, encouraged to wear extremely mis-matched clothes.

Gives me an excuse to wear my Iginla Heritage Classic jersey to school. Loving it.

Nice, sounds like much fun indeed I love dancing, and prefer good 80s music myself (if we're talking about popular stuff that wouldn't make most people go "WTF is this?" like most of the other stuff I listen to) although trance is okay. My biggest pet peeve are re-mixes of 80s songs tho.....I don't know why, but it drives me insane. I just want to hear the song! It's fine to dance to as it is! /shakes almost 40 year old fist

With supervision, I successfully gave my kid a needle to deliver some medicine for the first time. After a few more tries, we'll be able to do it from home instead of frequent visits to the hospital every time he need it. I know our healthcare system has its warts, but the service our family has received from the system has been incredible.

Driving southbound Macleod just now. Let’s say it’s the intersection at 42nd because I can’t remember which one it was exactly. There’s a left turning lane, however some fool didn’t realise they wanted to turn until the last second and is now in the leftmost through lane with their signal on to turn left. So they’re sitting there waiting until traffic is clear but meanwhile they’re holding up everybody behind them who wants to go straight. Unbeknownst to them there’s a cop car in that bunch behind them, so as soon as they did make their turn, the lights went on and the police were after them.

It’s always nice to see some fool immediately punished for their dumbness on the road.

That's not dumbness, that's ridiculous selfishness. If I was the vehicle directly behind that person, my hand would have been planted on the horn until he moved.
