To be fair here, that minimum wage increase is actually pretty annoying to them for stuff like this. I bet the raise in food prices barely covers that.

Justify what? Any sporting event you go to you know food/drink prices will be expensive. Do you think the Saddledome is the only sporting venue to charge these prices? If you don't want to buy food or drinks, don't buy it.

When you know what the products are worth outside of the arena, you know its ridiculous. Look at what is possible:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...nd-it-paid-off

A frickin bottle of water at the dome is over $4.

You do know you don't have to buy the bottle of water, right?

LOL

I'm in my early 40's, decent level of disposable income, and if I go to a game I'm smuggling booze in. No chance I stand in those lines for overpriced booze in that gong show of a concourse.

Looks like I'm going back to my university days and drinking on the train on my way to the Dome.

Google the Atlanta Falcons and how they treat their fans with respect at the concession stand, and the benefits.

Just going to have to sneak in liquor in a plastic flask that doesn't set off the metal detectors. We all know those were installed under the guide of keeping weapons out and patrons safe, when really it was so catch outside metallic alcohol containers from being brought in. Last time we snuck in mini whiskey bottles without issue

Yep, how dare I actually attempt to analyze the economic's from their perspective.

Actually think about it.

Its not clear to me if the gross profit is significantly higher than say, last year, based on the rising cost of bottom line labour.

At some point it seems reasonable to point the finger about the government that we as a population have voted in. Those decisions have consequences, and certainly, the profit of a sports and entertainment business is generally quite a bit smaller than other industries.

Don't blame them for acting like a business in this scenario.

How will you sneak it in? They have metal detectors and do bag searches

Asking for a friend.

Hey, I think what the Falcons are doing is great. But if I'm going to a Flames game and I feel like something is over priced I won't buy it.

Do the Jets have the same food and drink policy as the Falcons?

Great, and when I take my kids to the game I can just tell them to pipe down and explain economics? Get real.

If that's what you want to tell your kids go ahead.

I remember when popsicles were 5 cents. Once I tried to pay 5 cents for a creamsicle and the shop owner was so mad that I was trying to get out of paying a dime.
