Celebrated Square Root Day

Yeah, we had an amazing run here in this city. It's very rare you get that level of leadership and competence, and more importantly someone who is fighting for the middle to lower income citizens, while still servicing the upper class fairly.
A truly great human being as well. I'd imagine we're in for some **** now, and we'll likely end up with someone servicing large business and developers to the detriment of the average citizen.

He would make an excellent Minister in a quite poor Trudeau cabinet.

He is a visible minority so he would be guaranteed a cabinet position under Trudeau.

Thanks for your years of service as Mayor of this great city, Mr. Nenshi.

I think he will go back to teaching, and be a political pundit on radio/TV, just in time for the provincial election

He’s a highly competent, educated, and experienced person who would be a shoe in in any federal cabinet.

Here's hoping he pulls a Klein and moves from Mayor of Calgary to Premiere of Alberta. I think he could easily win.

I would guess he won’t run again for anything for a while at least.

Which party though? NDP has Notley who I doubt would step aside. UCP probably isn't a fit. Alberta Party or Liberals are a wasteland - would be pretty close to just starting his own party.
Federal liberals with a guaranteed cabinet post (and an instant leadership contender) seems like a way better fit.

As much as I would love this and he would take that party to new heights, I think Alberta is too polarized right now on political lines for Nenshi to run at the Premiership. I don't see rural Alberta voting for a guy they likely see as a smarmy urban liberal spendocrat in the same vein as Notley (even though she's educated, competent, and actually cares about Albertans). I also see half of Calgary not being into it because he's fatigued some political capital after 11 years. Edmonton would vote for him unanimously though.
I suspect he's going to go back into teaching or consulting - both of which he would probably have a lot of opportunity in. Maybe a federal Liberal party run down the road.

He would be just the type of leader that party needs to give it a chance in being legitimate in people's eyes. Could actually get some candidates with merit, and make electors feel like they have an actual third choice if they're not fond of either the UCP and NDP.

When I heard a couple weeks or so ago my heart sunk a little bit. All energy behind Jyoti Gondek now.
(I produced the video - what a bittersweet project)

Damn, that's not what I wanted to hear from that poster, lol. Oh well. I always thought the benefit of Nenshi bowing out from local politics was that we'd benefit at the provincial level. Could you imagine?
