The McDavid comment just shows how out of touch with reality he is. If I lost a co-worker/friend a year ago I would still be expected to go to work and perform my duties on the anniversary. Not sure I see how he should be treated any differently.

They way it was working, Monahan was expected to be one of the primary puck retrieval guys, which means he can’t be in his spot, at least until later in the play. This time, he was starting a play in his own end, skating up, and getting the puck.

I thought the Lindholm line picked it up half way through. TBF, they had a winger playing a new position, which the Monahan line did not.

Guess I'm a bit late to the party RE: McBaby comment:

If he would have said his comment BEFORE the game, it would have looked a lot different.

But he chose to say that AFTER his team got dumpstered on.

Poor timing on his part in a ####ty situation.

Gets paid 12M/yr,

"I'm so disappointed they'd make me work on the same day as the memorial."

Meanwhile how many people in the real world have probably gone from a morning service to work and whatever other commitment they have going on in their life?

This doesn't help the entitled narrative he already has going for him. Plus, as others mentioned, that memorial is some time after he passed, so you think it would be treated as a celebration of his life, as is generally the approach to those things. But CM does come across like a huge downer in general.

It's almost non-news because everyone has come to expect him to be a whiner and entitled. He's been propped up on a pedestal since he was probably 13 years old, and it hasn't stopped.

In his entitled mind, he fully expects to get special treatment from the NHL.

Exactly.

If this was such a big deal, the Oilers could have let the league know before the rescheduling that this date was off limits. Considering the game could have just as easily been on Sunday, it’s really obvious that the Oilers organization had no issue with it being on Saturday.

Complaining about it after you lose badly...

Yeah but if they did that then they wouldn't get to brag about gutting it out if they had won the game.

Frickin Oilers, even the players are part of the propaganda machine

I'm a little less on McDavid than most (some), which is allowed I think in any topic that isn't titled Edmonton is No Good.

Everyone is different, and I can see the events rolling out effecting players differently.

What was silly though, was airing it. You just lost 5-0 to a rival and you walk that out publicly?

I don't care how many times you say there's no excuse, you're literally using it as an excuse.
