Just don't leave it at Canyon Meadows pool. I will hunt you down.
There are Buy Nothing pages on Facebook that you "gift" to people. I found that a lot of people's junk is other people's treasure.

Hey, do you work at the pool? I used to work at The Spy Store just north of
Chinook and one of our best customers worked there!

Problem is these Costco scalpers will just lean on and likely abuse the super flexible return policy at Costco if they dont sell their stuff for a profit.

Sometimes all I can do is shake my head at the strugglers on Kijiji. Guy is trying to sell a 4 year old used truck for 40k and he has one stock photo from when it was brand new. I ask him a few questions and ask him to post some pictures of his truck. His response: "what do you want to see?" I don't know dummy, how about some actual pictures of the $40,000 vehicle you're trying to sell?
And selling seems no easier. " Hey, I'm interested, please contact me"
Me: "You've been contacted?"

Actually had a really fast and easy Kijiji interaction last night funny enough, usually it's a huge struggle but the guy hit me with an offer, I countered, he said "I'll buy this and the other item you have up for sale for xx", I countered again, and then we met 30m later at a cop shop to swap cash for parts.
Literally the smoothest transaction I've had on there in years.

In those instances you should ask for photos of really difficult areas.
“Send me a photo of the roof from above. Can I also see a shot of the muffler and transmission? How’s the carpet under the seats? Give me a pic of the keys too thanks”

"I need to see the area under the battery to ensure there hasn't been any corrosion."

I had a great exchange last week. I bought a used rooftop cargo/ski box for my camper van but didn’t mount it for a few weeks...sure enough where it mounted it interfered with the back hatch. Found an ad on Kijiji wanting to trade boxes...he wanted longer, I wanted shorter, both Yakima. We exchanged dimensions to confirm fit and he came over at 10 PM, the night before we left in vacation. Quick inspections, handshake, and swap. I probably could have held out for $50 since I had the bigger newer box but it was a win-win already so left it at that.

About two years ago I was selling some books. I listed them on kijiji and there was nobody interested for close to two weeks. Suddenly I got a response. The person was willing to pay asking price but couldn't make it for another week. I agreed to hold them. Suddenly I had two other people interested and I told them "Sorry, I have an agreement to sell, I'll let you know if pickup falls through". 5 days pass and I messaged the person to see when they wanted to come. Crickets chirped. 2 more days and I message again, and this time I checked out the person's profile. They were selling the exact same set of books. I assume they wanted me to have my listing spoken for so theirs would sell first!
The two other prospective buyers never responded to me when I went back to them. I tried again last summer and then I wound up recycling them when nobody wanted them.

What is wrong with that? Unless you listed your price as firm, sounds like a good way to start a negotiation.

I just respond with what's the highest you'll pay.

That just invariably leads to “I know you listed your price as firm, but…”

Yeah that isn't a big deal to me either. Just ignore them if you don't want to sell it for that price.
The "what's your lowest price" thing should just be met with a final offer. It can just be your asking price if you want. But they'll either take it or leave it, so just give them a number you'll be happy with and the worst case scenario is you're no worse off.

With the majority of Kijiji there is now a built in over ask. Everyone knows that the buyer is going to ask for a reduction so they build in a buffer. "What's your best price " is a fairly normal conversation starter.
If your add doesn't say firm, expect that people will ask you this either up front or when you meet up.

I negotiate in my business all day, every day... Opening with "what's the lowest you'll go?" is an absolute non-starter for me.
I've made the first move by listing a price. It's your turn to make an offer and I'll either counter or flat out say no; I'm not going to negotiate against myself.

Exactly, if you want to barter, come with a number. Don't ask me to barter against myself, that's stupid

I don't see it as bartering. There's no back and forth. The original price is an invitation to barter, provided it isn't firm, but if they ask you what your lowest price is and you give them a number, there's no bartering - It's take it or leave it.
