Devils bring in 2 vets

The New Jersey Devils have acquired two veterans in John Tavares and Jacob Slavin. Alongside Slavin the Devils have also acquired young sniper Denis Gurianov.

"We needed to continue revamping our roster, specifically on the DF side. So we brought in the defenseman with the highest DF rating". In a failed attempt to acquire another high DF d-man the Devils have to switch its focus on Slavin.

"We have been after Gurianov for quite some time going back to being the GM of the Avalanche so we are extremely excited to finally have him."

The Devils also wanted to address the lack of veterans and leadership on the team so they brought in John Tavares.

While it may come as a shock to some, I am trying to be more responsible resupplying the prospects, i dont have much. Tavares was a decision based on him being a pending UFA next season, gives me 2 good prospects i really liked( i was after the previous gm for Studnicka forever, in the Bruins world he is considered a Bergeron lite) I can also add through free agency with the now available extra cap or resign one of my own to replace Johnny T. But yes upper hand to Swayze as of now.

I thought trading Tavares opens up the possibility of signing some of your other UFAs. Hard to judge deals as cap situations are so fluid. However, Good moves by NJ and NSH
