I don't know if we have the assets, but to upgrade the middle pairing, we should be trying to trade for a D from Minnesota or Anaheim who will have a gluttony of d that can't be protected in the expansion draft. Maybe use Hickey's rights as a sweetener if Tre gets the vibe that he's looking to sign elsewhere after his next season.

In spite of my anger at his play in games 2-4, that image of him sitting on the bench with his mask on just painful to look at.
I would absolutely love for the St. Louis version of Elliott to be our #1 next year. I don't think the St. Louis version of Elliott even exists anymore, and I think Treliving would get roasted if he re-signed him, but I'm still a human being and will always be a sucker for a good ending.
Also, I purposefully used the word "good" instead of "happy," even though that would have probably been an even truer statement.

The coaches can certainly go and visit a player, but I don't think that they can force them to work out for example.

Thanks, this is what I also thought.

Dude...there was a hole. Big one. He needs to square that sh$# up.

I would have rather he tried to get square to the puck and stop it with his body behind the puck.
One thing that became noticeable in the series to me was that Elliott didn't seem to be aggressive at all in his crease and was never square to the puck.
If you look at Gibson on shots from the outside or angles he always made sure he was square to the puck and would gobble them up in his stomach.
Elliott was the opposite. He would always be deeper and cheating a little more which led to him waving his glove at pucks more and poor rebounds since he was never square to the shooter. He needed to let his d-men worry about taking away the pass and focus on making a clean save on the first shot, something he did very rarely all series.

That 3rd round pick condition of the trade has kind of sealed Elliott's fate. I simply can't imagine Treliving will double down on a guy that was so inconsistent.

His wife was just diagnosed with MS. Seems like a legit reason to stay home. What a POS statement by Francis.

Really, really poor taste by Francis there. Yikes. He should probably delete that, even though it's too late.

Can we jihad this and get Francis fired from Sportsnet? It'd be worth it.

His post game comments I heard on Sirius NHL were excellent. He is a good guy.
I agree. I really wanted this to work out, for both sides. But it's certainly didn't.

You would think someone like Francis, who deals with the players in-person, would be able to see that they are people not hockey robots.

While I agree that Francis's tweet is in poor taste, Brodie's wife was diagnosed with MS in October 2015—a full 18 months ago. This has been brought up a number of times on the board all year.

Does it matter if it was 50 months ago? No, it changes nothing. It could be something completely unrelated to his wife - changes nothing.
