I would flip Monahan and Bennett on your lines. Neither Tkachuk and Monahan are great at generating chances. I think they fit better with guys that can set them up.

Draft Pick
|
Gaudreau Monahan Ferland
Frolik Backlund Lazar (shutdown line)
Chucky Bennett Brower
Versteeg janko stajan
And when janko gets the feel of the game a bit, switch brower and janko and stajan slides to center

In a world where positions dont matter like many seem to think they dont..
Frolik - Gaudreau - Brouwer
Ferland- Versteeg- Jankowski
Stajan- Lazar- Monahan
Jankowski- Tkachuk - Backlund
or Reality
JG - Monny- Ferly
Matty - Backs - Fro
Steeger- Bennett - Brouwer
Janko- Ragin - Lazar
Defence is pretty obvious IMO. Toss-up for #6 between Bart and Andersson.

I like the looks of that one. Now if Lazar can step it up and earn that spot, I think we have a solid top 9 with a lot of balance. I think it would be hard to shutdown all 3 of those lines. The 4th line needs some speed, which none of those guys seem to have. Maybe add in a Foo and Dube next year with some speed on the 4th line. This year will be tough to watch if these 3 are together even if they only play 10 minutes or less a night.

What evidence have we seen that they're considering Jankowski at wing?

- Stajan
Giordano-Hamilton

Just my opinion. Don't see a centre position available in the top 9, plus I like the trend of starting rookies on Backlunds wing for a bit

For sure. You'd also have guys like Hamilton and Hathaway rotating in that 4th line as needed

There seemed to be some nice chemistry with Hathaway and Jankowski last night. Lots of size and lots of hockey IQ. In terms of a fourth line, that's a tough duo to match up against. (And I like the idea of Stajan on the Jankowski's other wing.)

Huh? Tkachuk is one of the better playmakers on the team

Agree. It's been a long time since I've seen a rookie control the puck behind the net like he does and manages to win battles back there and find an open man more often than not.

Monahan and Tkachuk on the same line would be slooooowwww. Seeing Versteeg on the right side wouldn't help either. Tough to separate Johnny and Monny so I think they start together.
Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Versteeg-Bennett-Brouwer
Stajan-Jankowski-Hathaway

Reading the lineup projections gets me excited. Right up until we get to the Smith/Lack portion. I am supremely worried goaltending will be a major problem this year. I just don't see Smith (or Lack for that matter) as playoff caliber goaltenders. We easily have the weakest tandem of any playoff contending team in the west.
Hope I'm wrong I guess...

I'm not sure I like the mix on the fourth line, even though I don't mind any of the players. I'm not sure Hathaway has made the team either.
