Brouwer for Demars. Swap 2 July 1st mistakes from last year. Same cap hit Flames take on the extra year

Only guys I would be willing to move our best prospects for are other, better prospect-aged players in fleece trades. Like Luke Schenn for JVR type of fleecing. Like Mark Jankowski+ for Nathan MacKinnon type of fleecing. Like Oliver Kylington for Cale Makar type of fleecing.
Otherwise I would rather ride it out. Our prospects have big upside, they are not Nemisz and Chuckos.

Me too. That's a good trade for both teams.

Can't imagine that Brouwer is "the right price" for Florida. But I would totally do it.

Please - no more trades or FA signings for the Flames until at least mid July when all the overpriced goods have been acquired elsewhere. We've already taken on the commitment for an overpaid goalie this month.

For those interested in Radulov:
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Hearing that Radulov's latest contract ask was six years at $7 M per season. No way Habs do that...

What makes you say that? $4.25M for a starting goalie isn't all that much. I agree about July 1 though, this isn't a great free agent crop. It's not going to be the same each year but I do think that the respective value of Versteeg and Brouwer for their contracts illustrates the risks of getting into early July bidding wars.
However, if Hamonic is going to move now, he fits the needs of the team so well that I hope they are involved.

Radulov is 30. I'd pay him a pretty huge salary, but long term? Nope.

Dam I don't think most teams would do that.

Indecent?
I think 5 x $6 million would be OK. Not without risk, but he is one of the bet RWs in the league. I think people are a little jaded because he left Nashville high and dry before, but take that emotion out of it, and it's a good contract.

HUGE risk with him in particular. Yeah he's a great winger. But a 35 year old flight risk making $6 mil sounds like a terrible idea.
Edit: 36. Turns 31 in a few weeks.

Huge salary? Technically you can argue Eberle had the same season last year as 18g and 36a are pretty average stats for a supposed offensive player. I don't think he's worth more than 3 x $5 million at the very max but I'm not overly interested in this player as IMO he's too flaky for the amount of money he wants.

If he leaves back for Russia then you don't pay him. It's not like it would be acquiring through a trade and giving up assets for him.

I just really don't agree with giving that player term. He's earned some top line salary, but for 2-3 seasons max in my opinion.

I would take Jason Demers on this team in a heartbeat - for $4.5M, that's not a bad contract for that player at all.
