lol. Basically no one considers this to be an equivalent accomplishment.

Theres variety too. Slices, angles, dropshots. And of course fitness. Maybe 5 sets of clay is too much but I think 3 sets of clay and women on clay is quite fun to watch. Grass is the worse. 76 76 all the time.

Nadal joins Novak as only players to win a Slam in 3 different decades.
Novak should get the #1 weeks record soon as he closes in on Federer.
Federer has been training hard and is said to come back for the AO. How crazy is next year going to be.

Because grass sucks. They don't even have a grass 1000 event.

All other surfaces have slowed down. This RG, they tried to use heavier Wilson balls. Still Nadal won.

Pete Sampras won 14 Grand Slams total and we thought it would be unbreakable. Nadal has 13 of these. Insane

Yes there's never any slicing or dropshots on grass or hard courts, and match fitness definitely never matters because the least fit players always excel on grass and hards lol.

Not to mention S&V is a legitimate weapon.
IMO Wimbledon is the most balanced surface now that it's slowed down a touch.

I mean you can literally slide 6 feet on clay, you can technically run less on clay than the other surfaces and make the same shots making match fitness less important. Nevermind that the slower surface makes getting every ball easier. Hard courts are the fairest test for sure.

Grass is very appealing watching players on the manicured lawns of Wimbledon looks awesome. Players in all whites looks crisp.

That's just aesthetics. Like saying test cricket looks good. You guys buy into the British pomp. If the grass court major was in Tokyo it would suck.

If the clay major was held in a city full of pompous jerkoffs who smoke too much and leave mid-match to go eat, it would suck. Hmmmm.....

I think Djokovic won't be able to get to 20 slams. He'll be a year older. Guys like Domi, Medvedev and Zverev will challenge him on hard and grass courts. Clay remains Rafa's domain.
He'll probably get 18 at the Aus open next year, but Wimbledon and US open are doubtful.

I agree with you that French Open tennis is more enjoyable to watch, just doesn't look as regal lol.

That's a bold statement, Novak only lost once all year.

Fair enough. However, he was pushed to the brink by fed in Wimbledon 19. He has little chance on clay. By the time the US open rolls around he'd have played too many tennis matches. He's not getting any younger. AUS open remains his Best shot at slams. But he doesn't have the aura that Nadal has on clay, so the young guys will fancy their chances. A tired and injured Tsitsipas took him to 5 sets at RG. He could do damage at hard courts for sure.

I always said slam count is the most important stat and I stand by that. There is no asterisk for doing most of that on one surface, particularly when it’s the most punishing one. I also always said goat conversations are pointless until they all retire and everything can be tallied up, but if people want to say Rafa is it, I’m at peace with that now.
Just want one more blaze of glory from Fed before he hangs it up and becomes Lindt chocolate spokesman / terrible recording artist full time.

Yeah, I'd be wary on closing the book on Djoker too early. If he doesn't get defaulted at Flushing Meadows, I think he wins that tourney. I've seen very little to convince me that any of the young guys are ready for the big time. Thiem has broken through, but Medvedev has taken a step back, Tsitsipas has shown difficulty in closing out matches he should win, Rublev can be very streaky both good and bad.
I also have to say I'm a little surprised how much people are dragging on Shapo and still have high hopes for Felix. If anything, Shapo under the guidance of Youzhny has refined his game and play a much more mature brand of tennis with some very nice variety. Meanwhile, Felix of late just tries to hit big winners while leads to way too many unforced errors. Not to mention Felix's serve which continues to be a big issue. I remain hopeful that Felix can iron out these weaknesses in his game.
