Crosby >>> McDavid AINEC. Their offense is similar, McDavid’s probably better but he’s not even close to Crosby, defensively. Defense, leadership, faceoffs, intangibles: Crosby is in another stratosphere.

I didn’t say you couldn’t post it. Just challenged the viewpoint
You seem to want to make this personal
I have no interest in that.
You called my post a glass half empty without providing any hockey takes of your own, it was a drive by and personal. You were not interested in hockey discussion.
Let's just move on and have an actual hockey discussion instead.

Nice to see the depth scoring, goals from the three players with the lowest TOI. Peters is really trying to get Tkachuk going, only forward with more than 20 minutes (22.17)
Crosby >>> McDavid AINEC. Their offense is similar, McDavid’s probably better but he’s not even close to Crosby, defensively. Defense, leadership, faceoffs, intangibles: Crosby is in another stratosphere.
I know who I take in a game 7. Crosby is great at pretty much everything. McDavid is super fast but lacks grit and 200' game.

aside from the point that I don't particularly think Jiri was driving by, it's hilarious that you're accusing a moderator of personal attacks when a) they weren't really all that personal, b) what Jiri said was warranted anyway, and c) as a moderator, Jiri has the special responsibility to use discretion regarding the suitability of a person for this forum
anyway moving on

This was shockingly noticeable. Crosby is just plain better. All this McDavid worship is out of control.

I disagreed with Bingo about GG all year last year. I am a rebel.
If the goal was to win a championship and I was building a team to go into the playoffs with, Crosby would be my top center pick, easily.
I think McDavid would be like my 5th or 6th pick. The guy's game is not exactly winning material as is. Maybe if he were developed by a team that taught accountability, it might be a different story.
Crosby is the full package even at his slightly advanced age.
McDavid with a solid team around him would be a lot higher on my list. Hard to blame the kid for not playing with a ton of heart right now. Crosby would still be #1 though. He's just so f-ing good.
Can we have 2 PGT threads after a win? One with happy gifs and positivity, and another one like this one?

That would be an interesting experiment to see how many unique posters would side in each. One negative game takes only and one positive response only.
Alright Calgary lets make a deal, you let us win 9-1 again, and you get to go on another hot streak. Sound good? Okay cool

“Heyyy, you guys aren’t still pissed about that 9-1 game waaaay back in October, right??? RIGHT?! Oh ####, you have been decimating teams all season since that loss? Uh oh.”

After thoroughly embarrassing them in their barn I'm sure the Flames will definitely be up for this game. That was the game where Johnson scored his lone goal on the year. What a great memory that was.
Got to remember that this is a 1:00 start time tomorrow.
Quote:
It was the blow out against the Pens that woke the Flames up. This should be a great game and if I'm lucky it could be a preview of the finals.
Quote:
let’s see a repeat of the last flames game
Quote:
I'm not greedy, I'll settle for half as good.
Quote:
The Flames are 2-4 this month and 1-4 on the road this month. Let's hope the Pens keep this terrible road record going bad for them.
Quote:
I got a bad feeling about this game. The Pens have been coasting through games. Meanwhile, the Flames probably have this one marked on the calendar after getting embarrassed.
Quote:
The Penguins started the Flames..
...today..
They will end them!!!!!
Quote:
No James Neal for the Flames today.
I’m not sure how they’ll be able to manage without his 5 goals in 55 games this year.
Though now that I think about it I’m pretty sure one of those goals was against the Pens..

Fluke goal, but we're lucky to be only down by one

I hope the Flames revenge is not a 9-1 game for them this time around...players look like they just got out of bed...someone get them some meth...
Quote:
Holy **** Mangiapane completed the whole checklist of cliches there in that interview. Impressive from a youngster.

Seems the Lames are having all the puck luck.

I think it’s just lousy puck luck. Flames are getting the luck and we aren’t. We can turn it around. We haven’t done that in a long time but it can happen. Remember when we used to come back in the 3rd a lot? That was crazy fun. Hope that happens this time too
Quote:
Piss poor rebound control, or lack thereof
Quote:
I don't even know whose guy Frolik was on that. Was it Malkin's guy or Schultz's guy? Either way, that was just a failure from everyone there.

Smith at one end of the ice makes a great save on a shot from the slot, and then Murray lets in a wrist shot short side from the top of the circles. Yeah, this is how this game is going to go.

Far too many times this year the Penguins have been outworked. I get the sense that this team feels that their talent a lone will carry them. The Penguins aren't doing the small things that win games in the NHL. Look at the Islanders, they don't have the star players on their team, but they outwork their opponent. The result is that they're in first place.
The other sense I get with this team is that it's their birthright to make it to the playoffs every year. It's almost like this team is on cruise control. If the switch is going to get flipped, then it better be soon. The other feeling I get with this team is that they might be tuning out Mike Sullivan. I think Sullivan is a good coach, but it makes me wonder how committed the players are to playing under him. The players keep making the same mistakes over and over game in and game out.
Quote:
Does Matt Murray know there's a game going on?
Quote:
Man, this is depressing after looking good being down one.
Sprint Retrospective
Quote:
Just something about 60 minutes of committed 5 man hockey. Especially defensively. They are so hit or miss and way too inconsistent. But we come down to 60 minutes of hockey needed. You can tell when they want it, they control the play. But they play a max of 30 minute committed hockey. IF they found a way to give 60, they control what they want.
Still... nice to see Geno back to his normal self. He really came alive in the 2nd 30 minutes. I thought Sid was awesome all game. Great to see Schultz back.
Very nice attempted comeback but you cannot play half a game against a great team.
Quote:
will be fun to see how they respond tomorrow since we will be outside the playoffs when that game starts,v
Quote:
Fix the D, like right now. If Canes win Pens are out of a playoff spot.
Quote:
Murray giveth. Murray taketh away.
Quote:
I thought that was the best game the Pens played in a long time.
All the lines were rolling except Geno's line, but his line started to get it going in the 3rd.
The Schultz effect was quite noticeable, in his first game back he made that def so much better.
It was the best the PP looked in a long time.
The most important take away was the fight the Pens showed today, i haven't seen that much fight all year from the Pens, i kinda feel like this game is going to get the Pens going.
Murray was obviously the negative part of the game, he lost the game for them.

Instead of changing lottery rules, they should change league rules and relegate this **** team.

I feel bad for taking for granted those hardworking, gritty but lacking skill and star power Oilers teams of the mid-late 90's and early 2000's.
Those teams feel like ****ing Glory Days compared to this garbage.

I am surprised at the volume of sour in this thread....
This is what playing a team battling for their playoff lives with the experience of 3 Stanley cups looks like. We may have games down the stretch against teams that have checked out, but those legitimately in the race will be hard fought, tough games that will be tightly contested until the last minute. Loved to see the secondary scoring tonight and you can definitely see that Johnny is not getting the space he was earlier in the year.
