I have done trials of both Weed Be Gone and Killex and hands down Weed Be Gone was the best. So, don't cut the grass first. You need as much leaf as possible. Spray the leaves not the flower or the ground. Make sure there is no rain for 48 hours. The weeds will wilt within 24 hours and be gone in a few days. You may get a second cycle of weeds as there may be some seeds lying dormant. There are six sizes of product. The most convenient is the one that attaches to your hose and then you just spray the whole lawn. It about $40. Don't use Round Up as that will kill the grass too.

The only way to do troublesome spot weeding is Round Up and a paintbrush.

So...uh, after all my digging I have a massive pile of clay. Anyone need clay? Probably at least a yard. Good for fill, or if you have a nice slope, you could wet it down and form it into a mudslide for your kids. Or make some clay bricks with it. Please. Someone take my clay.

Now that I'm on an acreage I use Par 3. Nothing better than that.

Need some advice on sod, 1,691 sq. feet for my backyard.
Found 3 ads on Kijiji quoting 35, 35, and 37 cent per sq. foot plus delivery. Then there is Burnco at 55 cents per sq. foot. All Kentucky Bluegrass.
Would Burnco be better quality? Do all these guys source from the same place?

Burnco does not grow their own sod, it would either be Manderlay Turf or Eagle Lake sod farms, etc. I didn't know sod farms advertised on kijiji. Here in Lethbridge you can order direct from Bos sod farms.

I was guessing the Kijiji ads are landscaping companies that will buy and deliver. Should have thought to go to the source, will call Manderley and Eagle Lake on Monday.
Thanks!

Anyone have any suggestions on where to buy some quality outdoor hardware? I'm looking to get a lock for the front gate. This is what I have on the back...and I would like to get the same one for the front if possible. I'm just not sure where it was originally from (and it feels better quality than what I saw at HD).
p.s. I already checked out the hardware district.

I would assume Lee Valley carries badass gate hardware. Seems up their alley.

Yeah, those Kijiji ads are all going to be from resellers.
Buy it directly from the farms and it's cut fresh, not days-old cooked rolls.
I've used Chinook Sod Farm several times and its always great sod.

Yeah, you need a rural address on your driver's license if you want to buy that stuff, at UFA at least.

Anyone have experience setting fence posts with this new foam stuff instead of something more traditional like post haste?
Seems like a lot easier to use, but does it work man?

I'm not construction savy at all... but setting posts with quickset concrete mix is pretty damn easy.
Dig a hole, throw some gravel in the bottom (not required), set the post in the hole, dump the concrete in, hold post for 10 minutes so it stays level.
Home Depot sells a post leveler contraption strap on thing that makes it idiot proof.

True, but that post thing involves no mess or cleanup. I'm curious about it myself.

Yeah but mixing concrete is a beech. And messy.
