On the 4th match point, Sevastova wins 6-4 5-7 6-4. Technically, it's not an upset as Sevastova is ranked a few spots higher than Gauff. ESPN are the ones that are upset.

I'm sure ESPN will blame Cocos loss on the lack of fans. Not on the fact her opponent played well.

Does anyone know what Novak is whining about tonight? I turned it off for awhile. Apparently he has been bitching?

I only caught him being irritated at not having any challenges after a bad call at the end of the 2nd. It’s so weird that in a normal year, the outer courts have to suffer through officiating errors with no Hawkeye, but now the big arenas are the only place where you have to bother with rationing challenges to be able to use the more accurate system.
There’s no crowd to entertain with a computer replay, so just get on with it and let the robot overlords do their job.

Osaka and Doi need a third and deciding set.
Edit: Naomi advances to face Giorgi in round 2.

It's because the Cincy tournament that just finished has different rules for the shot clock than the US Open going on now. Djokovic said he didn't know that, and wanted to know why it changed lol. I think it has to do with players having to grab there own towels and when the umpire starts it.
Complaining about a fast shot clock, who would do such a thing......

Jannik Sinner is up two sets on #11 seed Karen Khachanov. The young Italian kid is going to be a fixture in the top 30 in short order.

Felix takes the opening set 6-3. Serving much better today than he did last week.

That was a big hold by Felix, down love-30 and rolls off four straight points. That sends a strong message to his opponent.

Monteiro takes the second set in a tie-breaker 9-7. I don't think Felix played all that bad to be honest, Monteiro is playing out of his mind at the moment.
