A risk with early access games is that they never get fully realized, like Kerbal Space Program 2. The first game was made with love but the developers got bought out and the new ones seem to have no idea what they're doing. I'm glad I didn't buy that one.

True though I think that risk with Supergiant is as close to zero as you could get.

Lesson learned alright, don't port to PC because they are entitled customers that can't read and will band together to echo weak arguments and faux outrage even though it affected maybe 1% of the users.

Review bombing (all of their titles not just HD2) is such a weak move, refunding the game by anyone in any region that has PSN is a weak move. In the end its reversed and that's fine i'm not annoyed by people fighting for a cause I'm annoyed by misinformation on twitter spread by "influencers" that get heard because they have more followers, and they ultimately gained the most by this, they farm drama for a living and business is good.

I always felt Early Access was something you did for a small company with limited funds to help fund development while letting people play early. Hades was a huge hit and sold tons across multiple platforms so you can't tell me they can't float the development until release. Its a terrible trend, paying to be a tester so developers can hide behind the EA argument to deflect criticism. Of course I have also bought and played E/A games because these days the 1.0 release is so late because they are making money that if you waited you may never see release.

Edit: I don't think SuperGiant is doing anything shady here and Hades is awesome, thinking of other companies.

Hi-Fi Rush is really good, so of course they'll shut that studio down...

Once Shinji Mikami, the head and creative mind from the studio left, the writing was on the wall.

It's really unfortunate for the people in those gaming studios that are without jobs, but I'm sure the very talented devs will be snatched up quickly.

Despite the AAA games industry resembling a garbage fire lately, today is a great day for new releases in the indie space! This is a great thread that I'll just repost in full because these games are worth checking out.

Aah ok something to distract me from Hades II. My news feeds are conspiring to convince me to start by telling me about all the cool stuff.

Have been waiting to be a cat but Animal Well looks very cool as well, those should distract me.

Just get it man.

I've been playing all week and I have no idea what's 'Early Access' about it, even. It's just as full featured, polished, and content complete as the first game, if not moreso already. They should've just brought it out as a full release and done the rest as free updates or whatever so people wouldn't get scared off from playing.

This man is a company shill, trying to get you to pay to beta test! Don't do it! Also, ban him!

I'll echo the Hades 2 love. There's 2 routes you can take (no spoilers, you see two paths right at the start but only one is open), one goes down to the underworld and follows the blueprint of the first game pretty much with the same amount of content. Then when you open up the path to the surface you realize just how much bigger the game is than the first, and that's the only part not completely finished yet. And it's not like your save gets erased when the full version drops, you could just treat it like a new expansion when the final areas get released

Plus I played the #### out of the first, at least 3 full playthroughs from the start over the years. I have no qualms playing this one until I've had my fill, waiting till next year and doing it all over again when I get the itch
