I'd reward Ryan with the chance. He's shown he can be productive no matter where he is in the lineup. Jankowski 5-on-5 has not been very good all season long.
They said he's sick. If he's sick, why stay up to the end of a game you're not playing, then wait until everyone is showered and leaves, take a bus to the airport, fly to Winnipeg, and check into a hotel.
I'm not so sure I'd be eager to promote Jankowski, a player with 0 goals and 2 points in his last 14 games, over Ryan, a player with 4 goals and 9 points over that same 14-game span. I mean, I'm sure they'd both do at least fine, but why not promote the guy who's been doing better of late?
I think they’re better off using Janko and Ryan as they have been, keeping the centre strength of the 3rd and 4th line. Move Lindholm to centre the 1st line, and move one of the wingers (e.g. Tkachuk, Mangiapane or Czarnik) to the first line on Lindholm’s spot. Quine or Neal comes in to replace the winger moved up.

I have been as big a Jankowski proponent as anyone, but his lacklustre play lately should have him closer to the press box than 1C in my opinion.
Lindholm or Ryan would be my guess.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Go home, sleep, and get better.
agreed.
at this time of year, the last thing you want is the rest of the team getting sick... and for what? Monahan's not playing, so he might as well stay home to recover.
Someone's going to get a opportunity to step up... these are the chance that hungry players need to seize and capitalize on

I'd like to see Janko up on the top line for this game. He has shown some chemistry with Lindholm on the penalty kill, I could see him slotting in nicely.
Jets are a good team, but they haven't exactly been setting the world on fire lately, as they're only 5-5-0 in their last 10. I think the Flames can win this one, even without Monahan. Just gotta play their game and they've got this.
I can see Ryan playing RW on the top line. Peter's likes having two guys on the top line that can win faceoffs. That way they usually start off with the puck.
Jets are a dumpster fire defensively and will take a lot of penalties as usual. If the flames play hard and keep their composure they will win. Assuming the goaltending is decent
Sportselect Info
Flames Win = 2.45
OT = 3.6
Jets Win = 2.05
Over 6.5 = 1.7
Under 6.5 = 1.7
Tough game without our #1C and on a short turn around back-to-back. I expect this to be a real measure of how this team can do when the going gets tough. Flames eke out a 3-2 OT win playing a tight checking playoff style game.
Curious as to what they do for lines without Monahan. My guess is they put Lindholm in the middle and move Chucky back up to the top line. Backlund line gets Mangiapane back and Quine draws in. Gaudreau - Lindholm - Tkachuk
Mangiapane - Backlund - Frolik
Bennett - Jankowski - Czarnik
Quine - Ryan - Hathaway
Also wonder if they plan on bringing in fresh legs on the back end. I would have thought so, but limiting the Rangers to 5 HDCA yesterday leads me to believe they might not change what worked.

I remember this exact time last year the Flames blew a must win game against SJ and effectively killed their playoff hopes and interest for me. What a fantastic year this has been.
