Not only do I condemn these terrible sick bastards for their actions but it infuriates me as a white person that while most of us have tried to seperate ourselves from the wrongs the white man did years ago these idiots are trying to bring it all back. People are people, colour means absolutely nothing.

To be fair permanently shutting down Facebook and Twitter would be a godsend to society. YouTube can be better policed so it can stay.

I read the manifesto, and this (lol Reddit) post is a lot of extrapolation.

PewDiePie has been known as an alt-right supporter for years now, this isn't exactly new information.

But sure, if some rando on Reddit wants to go to bat for "Felix", that's his prerogative, but you can't ignore his follows, mentions, subscriptions and other associated bull####.

How has he been an alt-right supporter for years? What has he done?

He makes a lot of edgy jokes. A lot of people don't like that kind of humour - but it is humour. So a lot of people then pile him in with free speech supporters (which obviously he is as a comedian). Unfortunately some people who are adamant supporters of free speech are also alt-right and white supremacists (naturally because they want to share their hateful rhetoric). That doesn't make everyone who supports free speech a Nazi or a white supremacist.

Saying "subscribe to PewDiePie" is just a meme at this point. It is meaningless. You see it all over the Internet.

Beyond that, even if these lunatics are fans of PewDiePie - what has PewDiePie actually done to make them think he would support such action?

Just because this guy associates himself with a celebrity does not mean PewDiePie has any control over him.

There are so many people that have been identified by those on the left as problematic, from PewDiePie to Ben Shapiro to Jordan Peterson and beyond. What would you propose as a solution here? Silence any conservative thought?

Considering how popular PewDiePie is, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that he used his name to attract more attention.

I must be in the dark cause I literally had no idea who or what "PewDiePie" was until last night.

Yeah dude, I'm bowing out.

This is not the thread for this slapfight, I answered a question, you took umbrage with the fact that I correctly pointed out that PewDiePie is an alt-right figure who follows and retweets and supports other alt-right figures. If that's your hill to die on, fill your boots.

But meme-based murder sprees are shockingly unsurprising coming from the movement involved here.

Just tell me who PDP follows or retweets that is alt-right.

This is very sad news and sickening. Don't have any other words to describe this... we as humans can be incredibly ####ty. That being said, I am glad this is being classified as a terrorist attack (not mental health) because that is what this clearly is.

I have to wonder what, if anything, can be done about terrorists, murderers or mass shooters live-streaming their attacks like this. I didn't catch the video thankfully, but I can imagine a lot of people saw it and were probably really effected and traumatized by it. It's so disturbing that this kind of thing can be broadcast live.

I think it's a fair place for you guys to have the discussion. My 11-year-old son watches PDP and I've never checked in to see if he was a problem, but this has my attention, which is annoying if it's unwarranted as Ashasx is saying. If I should be concerned, I'm curious to hear more.

It's absolutely unwarranted.

The people who call Pewdiepie "Alt-right" are the same people that called Totalbiscuit altright because he had an opinion on gamergate that didn't just jump to "they're all bad".

He made some pretty borderline jokes and wasn't apologetic enough for people like Psycnet, so they tried to jump on him, which made Pewds double down on trolling them, because he's a comedian and it's funny. While that reddit post may be a lot of supposition, it's not wrong in the assumption that Pewds would want nothing to do with his name being attached this atrocity, not just because it negatively affects his brand but because it's an absolutely awful thing. For the record, I don't find pewdiepie funny, nor do I watch his channel. But I have followed the smear job on him because I was a big Totalbiscuit fan, and it was the same people going after TB that turned on Pewdiepie. Those same people who a year after his death, still go after TB if he's brought up.

"The subscribe to pewdiepie" thing is a ####ing meme. That psycnet is trying to play it as some sort of actual appeal to people to sub to him his asinine. It certainly makes me lose any respect for any other type of argument that he makes.

Here is my view in simple terms

Is pewdiepie racist : potentially

Does he make hateful content : not particularly

Do hateful people like his content : some of them, some of them hate him

Do normal well adjusted people like his content: some of them, some of them hate him

Is pewdiepie a terrorist sympathizer: no

Has pewdiepie made offensive jokes : yes, but not worse than heard at work or facebook.

Is pewdiepie an altright ring leader: probably not more than Leonardo DiCaprio is an environmentalist extremist ring leader.
