I have to say, there's a lot of Schadenfreude for me when it comes to Juventus. Losing 3-0 to Milan today, slipping to 5th with three games to go ... pretty funny after firing their two previous managers for "only" winning the league. Hiring Pirlo was dumb then and it only looks dumber in hindsight.

but hey, at least they are still in the Super League. That's something!

also, PSG wasn't winning at Rennes with a few minutes left, so you know that red card had to come. Kimpembe with a shocker of a challenge.

Lille is now up 3 points with two games to go. Hopefully they can pull it off.

Both have easy last two games. Lille will need 4 points. Don't blow it!

An amazing gesture from an amazing club.
Happy my team still cares about it's fans.

After an exceptional football year without supporters in the stadium, Ajax has decided to melt down its champion trophy and create over 42,000 small champion stars. From Wednesday onwards, each season ticket holder will receive their share of the champion trophy, or, as Ajax calls it: ‘a piece of Ajax’. This will allow the club to physically share the championship and the 35th trophy with fans.

General Director Edwin van der Sar: "This season, we have largely had to play without our fans. Well, without them sitting in the stands, at least. Despite this, we have felt their support every week. On the way to the stadium, on social media and in our personal contacts."

I want to hear your thoughts on Donny and why it hasn't worked out.

And anything to the rumours that Edwin might be on the move?

Ahw poor Donny... I think the United' midfield is just too stacked.
I don't watch a lot of United games but I think they play with 1 attacking midfielder (Bruno) and 2 more defensive minded midfielders.
Donny's strenght is somewhere in between.
He looks so lost out there when I see him play.
He would benefit from a (balanced) 3 player midfield with Matic/McTominay and perhaps Mata.
I understand Mata is (way) past his prime, but a playmaker like Mata would help out Donny. And ofcourse you always play with Bruno.

It's been a topic all year for Dutch sports journalists as well, but nobody really has an answer. He's not taking the chances he gets.
I think the best think for both United and Donny is to move him.
Temporarily to Leicester (I like Brendan Rodgers style) but I don't think United is up for that.
Or sell him to a (top) Bundesliga club. A little less physical than the PL. A little more handling time. That could work.
I don't think his role at United will change after the summer.
(and at this moment he might even lose his place on the Holland roster for Euro 2020)

Edwin... Saw an interwiew with him 2 weeks ago.
When asked about his future he answered 'everybody has ambitions and United has a place in my heart'
The Super League fiasco didn't help though.
In the current state of the club (United) I don't see him making a move anytime soon.
If the Glazers are out, I have no doubt he will be open for a role at United.

To be honest; I don't think van der Sar is anything special.
He absolutely needs strong and loyal people around him.

EDIT: I might have to give VDS a bit more props. His name opens doors.
Not a lot of people say 'no thank you' when icons like him invite you to the (business) table.

But, like I said before, he needs a strong and loyal team behind him.

With Red Bull getting hammered by Dortmund, wonder if Bayern is getting worried about paying all that money for Nagelsmann.

Dortmund sneaking into the Champions League because the worst Schalke team ever beat Frankfurt is pretty hilarious.

just goes to show you how stupid it was for those clubs to announce that their managers are leaving after the season. Every single one of those teams has suffered since ... Gladbach and Frankfurt have pretty much lost out on CL spots, and Leipzig got hammered in the cup final. Heck, even the buying clubs can't be too happy ... especially Dortmund. There's a lot of fans who'd rather stick with Edin Terzic at this point.

Yeah unless your manager is retiring at the end of the year it seems perplexing to voluntarily announce your manager is a lame duck. What player is going to go all out for a manager who is going to another team?

Juventus/Inter full of drama.

Two penalties. Red card. Juventus equalizing goal that was disallowed then rightly allowed for Chiellini tugging on Lukaku.

Then with a couple of minutes later a soft penalty for Juve to win it and a red card for Inter thrown in.

102 Points.

Lille has ####ed up. A home draw today. Now just 1 point ahead of PSG going into the final week.

Interesting developments at Barca.

Quote:
Barcelona are exploring replacements for Ronald Koeman, but president Joan Laporta doesn't want to sack the Dutch coach without having a successor in place.

Even prior to last week's draw with Levante, which preceded the Celta loss, ESPN revealed that there were increasing concerns among the board about Koeman's ability to lead the club in the long term.

In addition to wanting to find a replacement before acting, with the club's gross debt standing at almost €1.2 billion, Laporta must also consider the financial consequences of firing Koeman with time to run on his contract.
https://global.espn.com/football/bar...-first-sources

I wonder what that might mean for Wijnaldum's future. He wanted to go to Barca to play for Koeman, if he's not going to be around much longer maybe Gini will reconsider and decide to stay?

Corner taker, free kick taker, directs the games from the middle.

Ball winner ...maybe not.
