And no, that isn't a euphemism!

Give the canal path a try. It does have annoying road crossings but it's super quiet and very easy.

Yeah, my bike looks like ####. Road grime, sand, slush and salt all over the thing. My front brake doesn't even have pads on it right now as the left side is fused from lack of maintenance.

Might trot out the road bike tomorrow, it's a little more presentable.

Ya, I've done that one lots. The annoying part is all the roots at the start, unless that has been fixed...

Sounds like mine...my front pads are wafer thin, my back v-brkaes are mostly locked on, my chain skips....

Need a new cassette and I've got an adapter that might let me fit a disc to the rear. My v-brakes almost wore through my rim this winter with all the grit.

Man that was an unexpected treat to have a tailwind puch me home. Crushed at speeds of up to 32 mph quite easily.

My initial guess would be the bow river parhway starting near shouldice park ending at east village or deerfoot on the north side (not sure if deerfoot has an under or overpass) or up north to nose Creek bit I don't have much of any experience on nose Creek.

Does uninterrupted mean no going over overpasses and loops around intersections or just continuous time on the bike without stopping?

Not the Greenway but If it's the latter starting at fish Creek and 37th go east to the bow river, then North up the bow river pathway until zoo bridge, cross zoo bridge and head west down the bow river pathway system. That should be about 40k continuous riding.

(Someone would have to chime in if the last closed section is open though

this morning i was going to go with my regular gloves and no ear protection; however, at the last minute i put on the headband and grabbed the heavier gloves and sure glad i did.

it will sure be nice when that general chill in the air disappears. i mean it is may (albiet early in the month) and i am wearing ear protection. i am ready to ride in the morning and just wear shorts and possibly a long sleeve top.

on the more sad news front, i keep seeing pictures of west bragg and it looks like it was not be sow ice free and dry for another month unless we get a run of +25 and sunny weather - my thunderbolt is still sitting in my basement with no pedals and i feel no urgency to remedy this.

I'm still wearing my balaclava on the morning ride, can't stand cold ears (and potential brain freeze feeling on the forehead) so definitely the way to go.

I wear a buff over my head/ears to about +8. Same with some insulated gloves.

I leave a little later than a lot of you guys, but at 7:30am i'm not wearing anything other than a helmet on my head and have been riding in shorts for the past two weeks.

Wednesday - Friday last week I was cycling at 6am with no toque and in shorts. Once the road bike comes out it's shorts weather dammit!

I've just got knee warmers on now with a cycling cap. And no more lights!

Today on my way home I saw a dude riding a bike and vaping. He looked cool with a huge cloud of smoke behind him, one hand on his handlebar and the other clutching his vape box, or whatever they call it.

As an aside, it was great to have wind at my back on the way home for a second consecutive day. My speed suggested that I was in some type of cycling shape.

My bottom bracket seized up on me on my road bike going home yesterday. Glad I have great neighbours, one of them was home to pick me and my broken bike up.

Well that is no fun!

The slivered remain of one of my front brake pads released itself from the dastardly bonds of the metal backing plate and launched itself for an eternal rest in the pillowy embrace of emerald grass on my ride home. Lucky little guy!

And that is how you know it is time to replace your brake pads. No sooner!

my life forced me into driving my tin coffin this morning and i have a meeeting tomorrow that requires a suit, plus the office is having a potluck for lunch - so i was able to plan a little ahead this morning and brought my prison garb, and my potluck contribution (shrimp ring for the win), and packed in a fresh towel so i can ride tomorrow.

it will be nice tomorrow to have a very lightly loaded backpack on the way in.

Last night was my first ride the entire way home since the fall. Made it in Ok time, but I'm lucky I had a tail wind as I was gassed by the time I got home.

My hat is off to you guys who warriored through the winter!

Ugh, I'm glad at least a few people benefitted from the wind last night. 40 km/h gusting to 50 right in the teeth all the way home for me. Good for the legs I guess
