yup, they only need one goal as it stands.

not sure I'll survive if it actually happens. It'd be probably be a happiness+Schadenfreude overdose.

And that's probably that. Too bad.

Edit: And that's definitely that. Salah misses a bunch of easy ones and scores the hard one of course.

That was a sweet, sweet finish by Salah.

Aaand....they pull Haaland.

They absolutely can. They've been incredible to watch and they've really played some excellent games. They're a really exciting team to watch.

Napoli may have advanced to the knockout stage tonight, but they still sacked Carlo Ancelotti anyway. Gennaro Gattuso will take over.

Ancelotti might well end up at Arsenal or Everton now.

Arsenal makes more sense than Everton IMO.

Ancelotti seems to have had Liverpool's number in his time at Napoli so that could be interesting too.

Inter and Conte will be interesting now too. Ownership will not be happy with CL failure but he has them first in the Serie A. If they begin to falter at all in the league then I wonder how patent they remain, as they haven't exactly been patient since they took over the team.

For us the KO stage with mean one of Barcelona, PSG, Juventus, RB Leipzig or Valencia. I think Barca is who I don't want from that list at this point. Juventus might be tough, but we owe them for a couple years ago.

It doesnt really matter in the last few years and going forward

Winners and runner ups are both full of stacked teams.

Late february is so far away, and now with teams able to play january transfers in the CL, could be some big changes or boosts to some squads

I.e be very surprised if city dont add some cb help in january, with Chelsea's transfer ban lifted they will likely buy a few players as well

Yeah of course the remaining teams are all good teams, but I think there's a significant difference between Leipzig/Valencia than Barca/Juve at this point.

Bayern vs. Tottenham today...doesnt really matter to either team as it appears their standings are set in their group.

Bayern are not in the greatest form right now and under their amazing caretaker manager, but Spurs could be looking for a bit of a boost in a game against an uninspired opponent?

Spurs are playing all the kids and guys who haven't really found a spot in the first team though. Kane isn't playing and I think he was less than impressed with that, but with the Christmas schedule coming up it's probably good for some of these guys to get a rest instead of playing a meaningless game.

I'd rather draw a big team

Gotta play them eventually anyway and it's more memorable, once it's gets later in a competition my Hope's may move a bit, I.e I was happier with ajax than barca last year for the semis

I was happy with Barca last year too.

I think I have a photo around here somewhere of Suarez and Coutinho's faces where you can just see the moment their hearts are breaking.

Atalanta being the first team to play in the knockout stages at the San Siro in 5 years is utterly hilarious, even more so given they started with three straight losses in the group stage.
