Wish I was confident about this game, and getting off to a good start, post break. But sadly, I just don't expect it. Just seems like one of those games that this crew won't show up for.
Prove me wrong, boys.

The Central only having 3 good teams is why the playoff bar will likely be low
Finish ahead of any 3 of
Vegas, Edmonton, Vancouver, Phoenix, Chicago, Winnipeg, Nashville, and you are in
They are tied or ahead of six of those teams right now...2-8 won't cut it but the bar will be low.
That said I wouldn't want WC2 if given a choice

Not a fan of the decision to put Ryan on Monahan's line. Really feels to me like Ward is swinging in the dark.
I hate being this pessimistic, but here we are.

What four pointers are you talking about though? The games against van and Edmonton are four pointers for the division race but even if they went 0-3 in those, that doesn’t mean they fall out of the race for the final playoff berth.
The final playoff spot race is really about the central teams making a charge and Calgary only plays the Predators and Blackhawks before the deadline. Unless you consider the sharks still in the race but I certainly don’t.
It’s going to take a huge drop off for the flames to be out of the race for the final playoff spot by the deadline. I’m talking like 3-9 or worse. And that’s just not gonna happen or feels very unlikely.

It’s the losses to bottom feeders that get my goat. I think we’ll give the Blues a good tussle.

The Blues are a tired team. A win tonight should be expected.

Being the tired team after a long break is likely an advantage. Blues played a real game recently the Flames haven’t in 10 days

I don't think tired plays into it coming off the all-star break.

I hope we win tonight, sit our stars tomorrow night and call up all the scrubs we can get. We will then start a line with Lucic, Rinaldo, and Robinson. Then when our interim head coach gets suspended for the duration of the season, we'll be forced to hire Gerard Gallant to coach the team.

I am excited to watch Flames hockey again.
The issue I have is that I don’t know how 10 days off is going to change the systemic issues. Because I presume that time off is time off, and no one retooled their god awful exits from their own zone and transition game.
I’m sure they will pile up some shots from the outside that aren’t dangerous. Not worried about the fancy stats battle.
I’m going to play the following drinking game tonight - every time they start going D to D in they own zone, forwards go stop up by the blue line, and they lose possession within 5 seconds.
May need to rethink that , I have stuff to do tomorrow.

Alright, Johnny, Sean, you've had a nice break (1yr)... time to pick up where you left off (then) onward and upward.
Just win and start the final run of the season on the right foot.
Edit : I'm really hoping Buddy has a stellar night and gets the whole team feeling stoked and having fun!

The Flames will win and Buddy will score a goal or 2 or 3.
This is the year of the Rat! The King will score a goal or 2 or 3.

As long as it's one or the other because just hanging around and missing the playoffs in the last week will be a total disaster.

You were saying the exact same thing all year long the Flames were a surprise playoff team in 14/15. Considering there are only 5 players currently on the team from that roster, you must just not like the core? Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Backlund, Brodie and Gio.
Otherwise pretty tough to think you’re not negative every season.

I don't think there is any way the flames win tonight not with how they have played coming off short breaks let alone a 10 day break
