2-1 off a Powerplay goal by Nemisz.

Henry just got called for diving on a hooking play.

I see on the game sheet that Bouma is listed as the captain with Meyer and Piskula as Assts.

I also notice that Mitch Wahl isn't dressed. Some players will be fighting for playing time and with all our vets I wonder if some of our prospects will be left out and not get a chance to progress.

Anyways enough with my negativity, go Heat.

That's not correct.

Q. Liang is captain. At least that's what was announced earlier this month.

Bouma has been playing well. Brodie keeps having the puck bounce over his stick. Meyer is playing. Paul Byron has been hustling out there.

Don't forget, these are all our prospects now, drafted by us or not.

Henry got a diving penalty. And Irving has been good when called upon.

Heat have doubled the Monsters in shots.

Still 2-1, start of the third.

Shots are 26-12 for the Heat so far.

I read somewhere that that it wasn't written in stone that Liang would be the captain and it would be decided on their eastern trip.

Howse-Patterson-McMillan
Brodie-Piskula

Meyer-Liang-Howse
Breen-Henry

Desbiens-Byron-Rheault
Mikkelson-Wilson

Nemisz-Walter-Sylvester

I think the lines are like that, can someone confirm?

Listened to Ryan Walter between periods and never knew that Ben Walter was his son.

Ryan Walter is a pretty cocky guy. I hope he walks like he talks.

Great.

Heat win game 2-1 over the Monsters.

Irving sounded like he had a strong third.

Game winner for Nemisz.

HEAT WIN! 2-1 in regulation

my three stars:
Greg Nemisz had a goal on 7 shots.
Leland Irving stopped 22 of 23 for a .957sv%
Desbiens for what sounded like a physical night. His name stood out all broadcast.

PP 2 for 5
PK 3 for 3

Yeah, we out shot them 31 to 23. A very good game considering we weren't able to get in any AHL exhibition games.

three stars
1. G Nemisz
2. D. Sylvester
3. G. Mauldin

new announcer is okay too.

I watched the game, nice to get a win but I don't feel the Heat had a great game. The Monsters have a lot of injuries, took a lot of penalties and still the Heat could only manage 2 goals? Hopefully the "offensive strength" will show up. Don't want to be too negative yet but I have to admit I did like the young group from last year and would have preferred to see them progress. Some of the guys sent to the ECHL could have filled any of the spots tonight. Just my opinion......

I'd give it some more time before coming to any conclusions about the Heat, as Vulcan said it was their first game as a team.

I don't understand how you can say it's prospect graveyard when the drafting strategy for the last half dozen years has been to draft the best grinder available.
