Just got home from work and this is what I was hoping to see! Well done boys, that would've been a great game to see live.
I'm hoping for more of the same tomorrow as I'll actually be able to watch that game.

I was also at the game, I can also report that the Oilers "stars" looked soft and disinterested (except Jordan Eberle). Ryan Nugent-Hopkins was particularly invisible. Colten Teubert was a complete tool, another Oiler to add my dislike list I s'ppose. The Heat just played their system, imposed it fantastically, and when there was the odd breakdown Taylor shut the door; it's the way hockey should be played. I hope these full crowds continue (or at least at other games half full) as it really does noticeably improve the atmosphere.

I'm surprised Horak didn't get the credit for the "Smith" goal.

Awesome result... wish I could have watched it.
Sounds like Troy Ward has them running on all cylinders. I can't wait to see round 2 tonight.

Damn I missed this game because I forgot about it. Really wish these threads were still on the FOI side as I would have noticed it and remembered.

I think it was Flash who first mentioned Horak = Langkow and I think he nailed it. The kid does all the little things and isn't afraid to battle. I love the way he doesn't celebrate in the slightest when he scores, just yeah, I did, so what.
The good thing for the Oilers is they will improve, they have to, it's math.

so nice to see another team's fanbase over react to a meaningless result for once!
have to give Troy Ward a lot of credit for this team. The Flames (unless you read the media) actually have a good young core emerging, but they way they've bound together is really impressive.

Yeah, it's silly, these ARE the Flames right now. It should be in the main forum.

Horak was closest, and supplied the pressure that led to the self goal
At least that was my interpretation of the limited hi light reel view.

Being closest and supplying pressure is not how they determine the goal scorer on an own goal in hockey.

But the last player to touch the puck gets credit if it is an own goal...

ROFL at the "Smith" goal, first thing I thought as well. Goddamn this team is fun to watch! I was able to find a stream last night and nothing brings me more joy then watching the boys beatdown EDM, regardless of what league/sport they are in. Gonna PVR the game tonight and enjoy another smackdown.
I wish more Heat games were broadcast, they are a fun team to watch. I know its still early in the season, and its not the NHL, but man if the team can keep it together in the long run, Feaster will have some tough decisions to make when NHL play does resume. And that's a great problem to have.

If that was the case Lanny McDonald would have gotten credit for the Steve Smith goal.

Didn't they originally give the goal to Lanny at the time?
It was changed afterwards of course.
