Kings have been better with the Phaneuf acquisition damn it. The most likely open playoff position may surprisingly be a wildcard spot. St Louis and Dallas have the toughest schedules going forward and Minnesota is not far behind.

Ah well, Flames shouldn't rely on help anyhow - do it themselves!
I hated that post when I saw it

Look on the bright side folks. New coaching staff next year more fixated on exploiting players strengths than shoehorning them into their system.

Starting to feel a rather ominous vibe that the Flames won't make it this year...

Oilers' media will probably declare that the swagger is back tomorrow after beating the mighty Bruins. Cup parade back on. #herecometheoilers.

Too many people are paying attention to just the Pacific Division race. Guys, don’t be surprised if 2 Pacific teams end up in the wild card positions. There’s a definite chance that could happen.

In the span of 20 something games, the surely will be another stretch where a couple Kings/Ducks losses align with a couple Flames wins. I don't think we've seen the last of the leapfrogging in the Pacific. Those teams aren't going to win out.

If the gap becomes 5 or 6 points is when I think you start to worry at this stage of the game.

I mean between being in and out of playoffs.

Tbh I'm rooting for a lower seed if they make it anyway, for the road start.

No worries. We've got "road" Flames coming up in these next two games, so we're probably guaranteed at least 3 points, and we'll find ourselves back in a playoff spot by Friday morning.

Kings have the 2nd best goals against in the NHL if they start scoring even a bit more they'll start winning a bunch of games. They are +24 as a team I find that odd given their record.

The Flames' destiny is still very much in their own hands. OOT results will vary from night to night, can't get too hung up on that until it comes down to the wire. I hope the players aren't.

This is true. Based on their impressive goal differential and top guys having big years, they really shouls be 2nd in the division with a bullet.

If they win 2 of every 3 games with a couple loser points in there it won't matter what anybody else does, that should be enough.

Hopefully they're just focusing on that too.

Man it seems like the Kings, Sharks, and Ducks are starting to take care of business while the Flames are mired in their typical .500 play when not on a winning streak.

True, but blown points in December vs SJ, Anaheim, Kings and others, before GG got read the riot act and pulled his theatrics, along with lost points post break pre all star game vs teams like the Sabres, and of course the 6 points lost to the Oilers, are all going to come back and haunt this team...the problem with all of those is that they dominated many of the above games but were mentally weak and found a way to lose after having leads that were smaller than they should be.

Realistically, with this team playing no better than they are, just finishing out games and scoring that goal on the pp to go up by 2 or 3 rather than letting teams stay in games, they could easily have 10 more points themselves, along with avoiding the pure handing of extra 1 or even 2 points to the above mentioned Sharks Ducks and Kings in some of those games.

Not surprised at all that the California teams are ramping it up. Good teams always have another gear when the playoff drive is on.
