Very curious to see what bid wins.

Sharks offer was $5.30 X 3 (1 way) = $15.9 mill
Had to amend our original offer for less because we believe in being roster compliant at all times.

Perhaps now is the best time to announce it.
At 2:00 this afternoon, the Islanders acquired $2.5 million from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for a second-round pick and a third-round pick.
We currently have $5.53 million in cap space. $30,000 more than is required to match Cheese's offer.

Can you? Don’t currently have the cap space and haven’t been roster compliant for 3 months.
I could have sent down Girgensons, increased my offer but that would have put me at 11 forwards so I didn’t.
I don’t see how you can match any offer regardless of what last minute moves you made. You needed to get your roster in order first then make a move but you didn’t.
IMO the 48 hours is not extra time to make it work to match, its to decide if you want to match or not.
You can’t match anything.

I mean, I was roster compliant an hour ago. And I do have the cap space -- the Columbus trade hasn't been processed yet. I can call up those guys again at will and become compliant again -- and I will now, before I match tomorrow afternoon.

By the deadline your roster is still a mess. You have 48 hours to match if you have the ability to do so but you do not.
You continue to prioritize the wrong things. A fundemental part of playing this game is managing your roster and yo aren’t fooling anyone with the Keith fiasco.
I wish you all the best and you are good for this game with your trading, but there is no way you are in a position to match any offer giving the circumstances.

The Oilers' GM can vouch for me in regards to the Keith situation, as we know each other personally and I made him aware of my surgery and ordeal during the month of January. I'd appreciate it if you would show me some respect.
You aren't a commissioner, Dave. I have 48 hours and plenty of deals in the works. You are misinformed in many ways -- not only do I theoretically have the ability to match currently, I also have 48 hours for a reason. I'm fully roster compliant at the moment and I anticipate welcoming Mike Fisher onto the New York Islanders tomorrow.

OK looks like the winning offer is San Jose
$5.30 X 3 (1 way) = $15.9 mill
so NYI is on the clock to match by 7:30 PM Calgary time Wed night. To match they must have the cap space and be fully roster compliant. We will process any current free agency requests as part of this immediately.

The back and forth sniping is annoying.
If there are concerns about a GM, take it up with the commissioners. Otherwise we will ensure that the player is only awarded to NYI if they have the cap space and rosters are in compliance.

Interesting.
To clarify, Grant -- am I allowed to make trades at this time before the 7:30 deadline?

Sure. I don't think we said you couldn't. Everything has to be filed with the league though in advance of you making the match decision.

You are not roster compliant.
If the league is willing to give you another 48 hours to sort stuff out to fit Fisher in, that’s up to them but that’s not how I see it.
Step 1: bids come in
Step 2: islanders have 48 hours to decide if they want to match highest offer. BUT before having the privilege of that decision you need to have your stuff sorted out and you don’t.
IMO you can’t match anything and I have a very hard time believing the league will allow you to steal a 76OV player away from someone without having your stuff in order.

This is what we said:
The Islanders will have the right to MATCH the winning offer, with that decision required 48 hours after the original winning offer is announced. They also must have enough cap space to fit Fisher in.
So they have 48 hours to make the decision and fit him in.

So NYI isn稚 roster compliant for 3 months and you decide to give him another 48 hours?

Scorpion had diplomas (which are huge, diplomas would always take priority) and got his wisdom teeth taken out which I’ve heard is a hard week so those were his priorities. So I think the Keith situation is definitely excused, those are more important things than a virtual hockey game.
