More like not far enough. The server is the least important part of the experience in a restaurant and has the easiest job outside of host. That the back of the house makes significantly less than the front is probably the greatest crime in the food industry. People go to school to hone their craft to become cooks and get paid like crap relative to the front of the house after tips are considered.

Low paying jobs pay low because staff are easy to find and replace.
Its not the customers fault that someone made a bad decision to go to school for a program that results in a low paying job. You could get any monkey to work the line in the kitchen especially in a chain. No doubt it takes talent to be a chef. But wages in the open market work themselves out. Supply and demand; so if youre upset the kitchen is getting paid low wages, dont call it a crime. Instead realize that its what the market deems a fair wage and consider retraining and finding another job or industry.
