As of today Gustafsson is the Flames leading goal-scorer from the bluline, and is second in scoring. I like Kylington, but this is a significant upgrade.

Gustafsson is better offensively for sure, but on no planet is he a significant upgrade on Kylington generally.

He's absolutely an upgrade on Kylington. You're batcrud nuts if you think that's not true.

Doesn't mean Kylington isn't still on the way up and could use the ice time and opportunity to continue to develop.

I think Gustafsson is a pretty significant upgrade on Kylington - THIS YEAR.

But there is a lot of potential upside in Kylington's future. No guarantee that he realizes it, but the potential is there.

But for this year at least, Gustafsson is better.

Injuries can very well happen again.

The Flames have depth at forward. They did not on defense. When Hamonic went down, we were okay. When Gio went down, we were screwed.

It's nice getting this kind of depth, and quite honestly I prefer these two acquisitions than last year's mediocre Fantenberg.

There's almost nothing. Over half of Stockton's defense is on AHL deals.

I can understand the desire to add another forward -- I wanted them to do it badly -- but adding depth on defense was definitely a huge need.
