I get it, a particular commentator might not be your cup of tea, but I would urge people to show a little respect and class. People like Cassie Campbell and Kelly Hrudey are by all accounts good people. If it's not something you'd say to their face, why say it? First world problems I guess.
Sorry, I will end this rant now. Good game last night, go Flames.

Proper criticism isn't "mean." It isn't something you "wouldn't say to someone's face." I don't understand this line of thinking. If all you ever get in life are pats on the back, how exactly will you ever get better at something?

Fair enough, I think criticism can be warranted and I don't expect everyone to be so singing Kumbaya to each other 24/7...but I just read through pages and pages of people saying how much they hate so and so, and so and so has a terrible personality, etc. Most of it isn't exactly "constructive criticism". I just get tired of our "nothing's ever good enough, I need to find something to complain about" culture.
As long as someone doesn't come across as arrogant or ######y, I don't feel the need to bash them or say rude things about them, especially publically where that person (or their family or friends) can read it. No matter if they have a job in the public spotlight or not. They probably do have thick skins and it may not bother them, but that is my mindset at least.
Except for politicians of course, lol. They are fair game.

I’m amazed people pay so much attention to the “colour commentators”. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Galley’s ok, Ferraro’s ok, Simpson’s ok (when he’s not doing coiler games), pretty much everyone else is varying shades of stink.

Flames play a very good game against the top team in the league and instead of coming to the PGT and enjoying the win certain posters have to show up every game and tell everyone their opinion how it was lucky and point out every bad play during the game. Then turn to bashing the announcers. I agree with bigpete, don't let them ruin you enjoying the game.

I agree Beatle, what happened to the days of fun GIFs and celebrating a huge win? It is getting unbearable to even bother coming on CP after a win or a loss.

Give us nice things and we won't complain. Sportsnet and Cassie Campbell as a colour person is about as bottom of a rung as you can get.
and LOL at people thinking we hate Cassie because she is a woman. She has the worst monotone voice on TV and some of the worst "insight". She is the real life boringseanmonahan!
Cazzzzie Campbell is more like it.
Sportsnet has production values of channel 10 Shaw tv from 1996. It's 2020 and they can't even do HD and the uneven sound sync because of the superimposed Booster Juice ads is 5th world country level. This is how they broadcast in Namibia.

This "monotone" voice stuff is completely made up IMO. It's just not. It's a higher pitch but she has as much change in inflection as Debrusk or Simpson.
The way some of you talk it's like she was Ben Stein or Stephen Wright.

That is pretty unbelievable. Take any clip of her announcing a game and then watch the commercial she does for Sobey's with Gord Miller. It's night and day.

Listen to most colour guys. Except Remenda who fakes excitement. Or Hrudey who's there for the jokes. They all sound the same as her, just deeper.
It's not monotone. It may not be excitement, but it's not monotone.

I don't think his post was directed at "proper criticism".

Well Sportsnet just announced an all female commentary team for the Flames/Vegas game next week so that will add to this discussion
Leah Hextall on play by play, Cassie Campbell on colour and Christine Simpson doing interviews.

Yay (qualified by the fact I've never heard her do PBP but I know she has a good head for the game).

She did the NCAA men's finals last year didn't she? Got some creds.
