The atmosphere really came through on TV. Thats the kind of thing you want to see, passionate fans that arent being idiots.

What did you expect? Flames fans are classy, even if they are wearing Jets jerseys.

I do get a bit annoyed when there are a large number of opposition fans in the building, but the Jets fans were pleasant to be around. I did enjoy telling them that they should put their Flames jerseys back on when it was 3-0.

He's implying that a lot of those Jets fans were Flames fans until 9 months ago. Pretty straight forward.

If you are talking about the same section as me.

I think your story is missing a few facts.

I really like this whole "Battle of Atlanta" thing. Especially if continues it's initial spirit of those in attendance being a passionate AND classy fan.

Anyone else think that the next time the Jets play here that we should do the bilingual version of O Canada just to play with the Jets fans?

Some Jets fan in my row kept on yelling to Flames fans "talk to me in two years" when it became 5-2. Felt like I was sitting by an oiler fan.

We could cheer more?

I understand that an exciting team usually helps energize the crowd but i dont totally buy the whole 'its up to the team to make us cheer' stance that some ppl stick to.

Pretty sure we all agree the games are more fun when the dome is loud and im sure it helps get the players a little more jacked. Flames fans are capable as is evident in the playoffs.

To each there own but im in the boat that likes to cheer, even before the team does something exciting. I find starting chants fun, obviously more fun when others join in. Really hope this last playoff push wakes up the crowd a bit.

Anyway, to get back on topic i had an awesome time at the game, i too had no problem with jets fans, they were great overall. One dude was wasted at the start of the game and was getting a little vulgar/really annoying but even he had the common sense to pull his own chute and take a breather in the concourse. More evidence that canuck fans have an abnormally high % of obnoxious/disrespectful deltabravos.

I guess it is better than yelling RED during a foreign countries anthem.

But of course when the Jets scored he never faced them to take a ribbing back. I have no problem with having fun and giving each fans the business but if you are not willing to take your lumps back then you are just a D-bag and they are not exclusive to any fan base.

So while this Jet fan was giving it to this guy back and calling him out (no swearing at all at this point) another guy pipes up, from another part of the section and yells "yeah if Winnipeg is so great what are you all doing here?"
So the Jet fan says "your right buddy Winnipeg is a Shi....y city". But what does that have to do with cheering on a hockey team?
It was right then that a different fan sitting near the guy being yelled at called him out about swearing in front of his kid.
The Jet fan felt bad and apologized right away for swearing and said it is inapropriate and wrong. Matter of fact he apologized twice to the father about it.
The Jet fan then continued his "discussion" with the guy and said "yes Winnipeg is a crappy city" and left it at that.

The rest of the section had a great time with each other fans and made for a fun night.

The worst kind of fan, I don't care what jersey you're wearing, is the one who stands up and turns around during a goal.

Just stand up, high five your buddies, enjoy it.. but don't turn around and be a hero.

Wish I could have been there. Haven't been to the dome since game 4 of the 04 finals.

At the Philly game, after they scored their first goal, a guy maybe 50, turns around, flips the section the double bird and says F you. Even the Philly fan in front of us was unimpressed with that. As I said to the fun Philly fan in the row in front, has the roles been reversed and a Flames fan done that in Philly he'd have been torn to bits.

I say screw Jets fans! I'm tossing them in the same boat as Oiler and Canucks fans! This is a rivalry people!
