Default Iphone Data Issues

Hi guys, anyone else having problems today accessing data on their iphone? I looked on the net and found a few people experiencing the same problems. Data stopped working about an hour ago, though phone (voice) still works, and texting appears to as well.

Anyone else having data issues with their iphone? I'm with Rogers.

Which iPhone? Check if your carrier settings are updated...Settings , General, About. What do you see for carrier settings?

Downloading the new update now... I assume that was the problem, will update if it still doesn't work.

That appears to have been the problem. Kind of weird that they can just shut down my data if I'm not up to date with the software... what if I was in some remote location and couldn't hook up to the internet?

Thanks for the help though, your point led me to check my version and update.

Yep, 3G... brilliant for field work, the mapping function is great. I pretty much navigate whole cities without learning a single thing about their streets, I just follow the iPhone.

Which left me a bit high and dry yesterday evening when I was trying to find my way back to the hotel and realized I actually had to... figure out how to get there without my iphone.

If you couldn't hook up to the internet, why would you need data anyway?

The better question, in my opinion, is what if you didn't WANT to upgrade?

I would need data to use the GPS mapping function to show me around, to load the maps on to my phone. I need the data to search for new locations and route me there. What I mean by no internet is no access to a computer with the internet. I have to hook my iPhone up to iTunes to get the update.

Why didn't I want it? Laziness... it takes like 20 min.

I've noticed a significant downgrade in performance for my iphone - after 1 year, it is less than half of the speed it should be (8 gb 3G).

Not happy. I think it is all those worthless software updates they keep piling on.

I definitely perceive the same thing... seems like the phone is slower than it used to be.

Ah yes, I forgot about that part. I understand the rest, but I was just thinking that if you were out of your data coverage area you'd be SOL either way. I forgot about the whole iTunes sync to update thing. I wonder if they will ever change that?
