Kadri is a very capable two-way player. He'd be a upgrade on Backlund and give us some grit and intensity down the middle that we're missing. Yes he's a dummy but this team needs more guys that need to be reigned in than ones that need a push.

I would be disappointed if it's true. Kadri in Calgary would have the perfect opportunity to earn minutes and show his top 6 ability to earn himself a great contract when his current one expires.

Why not? We could use another producing middle 6 forward, he's been linked to trade talks and fits the need of a gritty dbag. Sounds like a fit to me

I don't blame him, the Leafs are a cup contender and he's playing for his hometown.

Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
There were 2 teams on Kadri’s No list that showed interest over the past week but he didn’t want to waive as is his right under his 10-team NTC. But Colorado was not on his No list so the Leafs free to trade him there. Good trade fit with the Avs, Leafs finally get top pair RHD

Yeah, he definitely had the Flames on his list. Screw him.

So I managed to watch the Sportsnet segment again and this is what Kypreos said:

Kypreos: "... Treliving still working the trade route as well. A lot of speculation about Toronto and Kadri. I believe there was something to be said there"

Friedman: "Yup"

Kypreos:"Unfortunately, one of the lists on Kadri's No trade with 10 teams involves many Canadian teams."

So I guess you could interpret that Friedman and Kypreos concurred that there was some trade talks between Calgary and Toronto on Kadri but Kadri's no trade list prevented it.

He blocked it which sucks but at the same time I’m not gonna lose sleep over it; Treliving is a patient man and the off-season is much longer than July 1st

Yes, but all of the TSN and Sportsnet guys are on vacation now! They all made it sound like nothing more will happen now haha

If Kadri did block a trade to Calgary, it has less to do with him preferring Colorado over Calgary, but more with he wanted to stay a Leaf.

News Update

McKenzie says TJ Brodie for Kadri trade came very close to happening but doesn't say if it wasn't completed because of NTC

Bob McKenzie saying the Flames and Leafs got very close to a Kadri/Brodie swap.

This honestly sucks so bad.

Kadri was by far my #1 target this offseason

As someone that wanted Kadri, that is very sad to read.

Treliving tried but if a player doesn't want to be in Calgary there's not a lot more he can do. Just goes to show it's a little more difficult building a winner in small market Canada.

I wonder what impact Brodie and Stone's ntc have had on the off-season.

Thats interesting if it wasn't a NTC that was exercised. Then this is 2 major deals in the past 6 months that flopped for some unknown reason .
