There are A couple links in here for Stajan...does this count or not until it’s official?

What is the rationale around the rule "No buyout is required for retired players UNLESS acquired via UFA BY THAT TEAM in the same season or preceding off-season.".

Just not sure what behaviour that is trying to curb. Especially since I feel like the real issue would actually be signing older guys that are close to retirement to long term contracts in the CPHL to win the bidding war with a 2-3 year contract, only to have them retire after 1 year.

Just my opinion but seems harsh to have to buyout a 34 year old who retired unexpectedly when he never played a game on his roster - since not like he really had any unfair advantage by signing that guy this offseason. If anything it just ate up cap space he could have used for other bids.

Largely so there’s a price/risk for offering three year deals at large cap hits
