Nice deal on the leafs for a bottom three dman. Probably a home town discount, assuming he’s from Toronto.

Thanks. I’d think even in this market he’d be worth North of $2MM. Wonder why he took a discount.

It's a good look for guys to outperform contracts. Maybe Bogo can play well here and earn a bigger deal down the road... if he signed for more it might be harder for him to exceed expectations and impress

See... this is the one that makes the Tanev deal sting to me.

I appreciate we needed a Tanev type.

But is Tanev $16M and three years better than Bogosian?

Rhetorical.

These are the kinds of contracts and players a team is forced to sign because they have 3 players making over $10 million a season. I don't see how they can build a championship team with that kind of salary structure long term. One of the big 3 is getting moved at some point.

I get Tanev isn't flashy and has injury history but this is too much. Bogosian was never known as a stay at home defensive defenseman before this last year and even that is suspect given his team. Tanev has long been looked at as one of the better defenders. Theyre not really comparable players.

That’s Bogosian’s offensive output over the last seven years.

LOL at some of the talk here. If Treliving signed Bogosian and not Tanev some of the same people would have blown a gasket.

ETA: People were complaining about Tanev’s injuries history - look at Bogosian.

If I am remembering the right player Bogo is a little bit of a dirty player? Which is something the Leafs need badly. So good move.

Because if he encounters a slight breeze, he will break 3 ribs.

Except tanev knows how to play defense and has shown that the whole time. BTW Bogosian total is 82 vs 108 for tanev, over 25% difference... which is actually pretty different. Throw in the better d and it's not even close.
