Rittich is leaving and we need insurance and expansion draft fodder?

Feels like this will bury Parsons. Domingue isn’t good enough to be backup right?

I wonder if they want to move on from Rittich after how unhappy they were with him in camp.

We have Markstrom & Rittich for the NHL, Zagadulin & Parsons in the AHL.

That makes this signing of Domingue a very interesting signing because he is a great #3 or maybe a backup behind a heavy load starter. In a condensed schedule, we won't want to run Markstrom out as a heavy load starter and in the AHL we want the two younger guys getting the reps.

I see 3 possibilities.

1. Zagadulin is being loaned so he can stay in Europe.
2. Rittich is being moved.
2. We are running the 3 headed dragon over a condensed schedule, with Domingue acting as backup with 1a/1b starters.

edit: per sureloss Tre said Parsons has an ankle injury

Too bad about the Parsons injury

Ignoring the obvious reasoning for the signing, I wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of a 3 goalie system since games are going to be close together and injury (or illness) seems likely for goalies

50 games for Markstrom, 20+ for Rittich, 5-10 for Domingue. He's been solid in his opportunities at the NHL level

That must be one hell of an ankle injury. Season doesn’t start for almost 2 months at earliest.

I really don't see the Flames trading Rittich.

Unless he blew a gasket at the Markstrom signing or something and requested a trade. But that would be pretty dumb as he'll still get lots of playing time with a condensed schedule behind a pretty decent team for his UFA year.

Also, if they do trade Rittich, Domingue is not the answer for a replacement. Domingue should be nothing more than depth insurance to cover for injuries.

Okay, so... What?

Do... Ya'll have like... One pro scout or something? He just stayed in Vancouver all year and this is what you end up with?

Treliving said in the Marky press that we will need two capable goalies for the condensed schedule. Ritter is not going anywhere.

This is about Parsons and his injury.

Schneider and Gillies are gone, they don’t have anyone in the ECHL.

This is organizational depth.

I actually forgot Domingue pissed off NJ and was sent to Vancouver as punishment.

Domingue was a Treliving draft pick in NJ

Makes sense, Rittich is now an expensive backup, and they will probably try to move him.

Tre said he wanted a 3rd goalie in the A

AHL schedule will occasionally have 3 games in 3 nights; add in the assumed COVID condensed schedule, makes sense to have 3 goalies in Stockton
