Here is my best attempt at a roster summary:

Key(ish) Additions:

Matt Champman - 3B
Raimel Tapia - OF
Zach Collins - C
Gosuke Katoh - Utility infielder
Kevin Gausman - Starting RHP
Yusei Kikuchi - Starting LHP
Yimi Garcia - Relief RHP
Andrew Vasquez - sent to minors
Dexter Fowler - sent to minors
Mallex Smith - minors (I think he is still a Blue Jay)
Joe Biagini

Departures:

Randal Grichuk
Robbie Ray
Marcus Semien
Reese Mcguire
Jacob Waguespack - Japan
Breyvic Valera - Japan
A.J. Cole - Japan
Wilmer Font - Korea
Kirby Yates
Joakim Soria
Stephen Matz
Corey Dickerson
Jarrod Dyson

Other things:

George Springer is still a Blue Jay!
Charlie Montoyo extended to 2023.
Gabriel Moreno is in AAA with the Bisons.

Reminder: No more Lansing Lugnuts within the Jays farm system. They're High A for the Athletics and the Vancouver Canadians are now High A for the Jays.
Dunedin Blue Jays are now Low A.

First game is tomorrow, Friday, 7:07 Eastern against the odious Rangers.

Go JAYS!

I still think it's a bit of a question mark. I sincerely hope and think it will be better than how it was at the beginning of last year.

Cimber, Richards, Mayza, Romano and Yimi Garcia in my opinion are solid arms. Merryweather, Stripling, Saucedo, Phelps could be good, could be bad. Trent Thornton is bad.

I’m guessing a 97 win season exceeding expectations. Yanks and Sox seem older and the Jays are probably going to catch a few by surprise as their vets aren’t that old. Sure bullpen can be spotty, but I imagine management will pay the premium if push comes to shove and that’s the bottleneck. Don’t forget the minor arms who could be brought in to slot into the bullpen. I have tickets to the home opener game and as all home openers, it should be great. A bit concerned with the variant and many not masking in closed proximity but it should be fun regardless.

I admit I thought well of Castro. Small guy but seemed to have a bit of potential.

Interesting and unexpected deal.

I had a soft spot for Castro as I always root for kids coming out of Venezuela.

Another lefty bat so that's something!

I like how they're still tinkering with the line up.

We've got offense and defense for DAYS. Question is whether the bullpen shows up to help us win games. If so, Jays are scary good.

Vegas has them second behind LA for WS odds and almost everyone has them the odds on favourite to come out of the AL

When American media is picking them over NY and Boston it’s eye opening

Pressure ? For sure . But this isn’t Canadian media generated pressure

Love the Castro/Zimmer trade

The biggest weakness I could see was not having anyone capable of playing a quality CF after Springer, well Zimmer fits that bill big time. Strong base runner too for late in games, and he's a lefty bat with a bit of potential possibly. Not a bad get at all for a reliever they snagged off waivers last year, and who didn't make the MLB roster ahead of a guy like Thornton haha. Castro has good stuff though, I wouldn't be surprised if Cleveland gets some value out of him. Good trade for both teams.

I imagine this means Collins gets optioned to Buffalo.

Zimmer is one of those guys who has all the tools, but can never seem to put it all together. We were going to lose Castro one waiver anyways so may as well take a look at Zimmer and see what he can do. The strikeouts are his biggest issue, 122 K's in 348 PA's last year is less than desirable.

The speed and defense off the bench helps a lot though. I am still a bigger fan of Tapia as I think there is a bigger chance of him breaking out.

I am still not sure what Kirk is as a big leaguer. Hopefully he has a good start to the season.

I keep waiting for Jansen to break out offensively, is this the year?

I really like the platoon of Biggio and Espinal at 2B, I think they both will have solid seasons.

I can see Chapman moving up the lineup in short order. I think he will put up big numbers playing in this division.

I know its a long season, but I really hope the Jays at least win tonight. It would sure suck if they lost tonight after all the hype.
