I've never doubted Modric, that man is a magician with the ball. One of my favourite players.

If there is one thing we can all hope for is that he takes this win as a huge 'Career Exhale' and phones in the World Cup because if he plays like that against Canada we are really screwed.

But Paris was amazing, I was not pepper-sprayed or otherwise gassed despite being a Liverpool fan in France.

Liverpool fans in Paris were amazing! They couldnt have been happier or nicer despite being treated rather poorly overall and of course, the result. I met some amazing, wonderful people, most were very impressed that I made the trek all the way from Canada.

I only had one run in with the French Police and it turned out hilarious enough.

the Bayern/Lewandowski drama has been absolutely hilarious lol.

I mean, the audacity of him talking about loyalty is funny already, given his behaviour back then when he wanted to join Bayern from Dortmund ... but the "something has died in me" line is pure comedy gold.

Mbappe didn't even last as the most dramatic transfer of the summer for a week.

Something died in me, this is stellar.

I am definitely using "something has died in me" when I resign from my next job.

as expected, Poch is out at PSG.

will be interesting to see the replacement. The Mourinho rumour died pretty quickly, and it looks like Zidane has no interest either. Current frontrunner is Christophe Galtier from Nizza ... would certainly be interesting, going from the likes of Lille and Nizza to managing Neymar, Mbappe and Messi.

looks like Girondins Bordeaux is not only relegated to the second, but to the third tier because of their financial situation. Another club with a rich history down the drain.

Quote:
The DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, has this afternoon taken the decision to relegate Bordeaux to the third tier over Les Girondins’ financial situation.

The team had already gone down to Ligue 2 at the end of the current top flight season, having finished rock bottom of the league after a catastrophic season in a sporting season that saw them concede no less than 91 goals.

Bordeaux will have a week to appeal the decision, with another two weeks afterwards to present their situation at another hearing with the DNCG. RMC Sport have indicated that the club’s deficit is €40m. Club president Gérard Lopez is expected to appeal the decision imminently.

Pochettino appears to have been sacked.

Quote:
Mauricio Pochettino has been sacked as Paris Saint-Germain manager just months after guiding the team to the league title, sources have told ESPN.

The club is yet to announce the departure of the Argentine, but sources have told ESPN it was agreed on Wednesday morning. Pochettino had one year left on his contract.

PSG are still trying to secure the signing of their new boss. Christophe Galtier, the Nice manager, is now the front-runner and the favourite of new sporting director Luis Campos, who replaced Leonardo.

Dont really know where to put this, but this seems pretty cool!

Soccer stars past and present came together in Florida this weekend to take part in the first edition of "The Beautiful Game," a series of matches hosted by 2002 World Cup winners R10 and RC3 that are raising money for charity.

Ronaldinho and Roberto Carlos assembled squads that could lay claim to being the most star-studded in the history of exhibition games, with fellow Brazilians Cafu, Rivaldo, Eder Militao and Vinicius all joining them on the roster.

football in Sierra Leone sounds like fun

Quote:
The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is investigating the outcome of two matches that produced an unbelievable total of 187 goals. The two second-tier games saw Kenema-based Kahunla Rangers and Gulf FC of Kono heavily defeat their city rivals in Premier League qualifiers on Sunday.

Kahunla walloped Lumbebu United 95-0, and Gulf FC thrashed Koquima Lebanon 91-1, providing the two biggest victories recorded in the history of Sierra Leonean football. However, the half-time scores were just 2-0 and 7-1 respectively, and both results have been annulled because of suspicion of match manipulation.

I blame the sportsbook if they were taking lines on +90 spread.

Honigstein has since said it was a bit tongue in cheek, but yeah, it's understandable you'd want the cash upfront from a club which fails to even pay their own players what they promised them in their contracts.

Bayern Munich have confirmed Robert Lewandowski will join Barcelona after the clubs reached a verbal agreement for his transfer on Saturday.

Lewandowski, 33, has twice won the Golden Boot for Europe's leading goal scorer and finished as runner-up for the 2021 Ballon d'Or. He will join Barca for a €45 million fee, with an additional €5 million in variables

Barca are going to need Manchester United to pay Barca.

That being said though....they know he's 33 right?

Funnily enough…

Frankie de Jong reportedly will not accept a transfer to ManU until Barcelona pay the salary that he deferred due to Covid. Barcelona don’t want to pay because he is leaving and it’s not going to benefit them. ManU just want the player.

Possibly going to end up that de Jong doesn’t move, he becomes unhappy as he lost his move, Barcelona still owe him the money, and ManU remain in 6th.

FIFA and UEFA are a joke - allowing Barcelona to complete these transfers while pretty much being bankrupt and owing players money.
