Default Police issue arrest warrant for Calgary man in slaying of Ontario teen

LONDON, Ont. – An arrest warrant has been issued for an Alberta man in the death of an Ontario teen who police say died while trying to get his cellphone back.

Police in London, Ont., say 23-year-old Muhab Sultanaly Sultan of Calgary is wanted for second-degree murder in last weekend’s slaying of Jeremy Cook.

Cook left his phone in a taxi but used an app to track the device to an address in London’s north end. Police have said when he and a relative arrived at the location early Sunday morning the app indicated the phone was in a nearby car with three men inside.

I hope this man is caught. The person must be sociopathic to murder someone, just for trying to retrieve his stolen cell phone. Police had said the victim did not know his assailant.

Don't get me wrong, this is a tragic case, but what a bad decision that was to go up to strangers in a car at 5:30am. A phone just isn't worth it.

I guess we are turning into a 51st state then, we now need to worry about getting shot in a parking lot.

There is no such thing as a good scrap for a good reason anymore.

I know we like to talk about how bad things are in the States with gun violence, I think we need to also come to terms with the fact that Canada isn't leading the way when it comes to preventing gun violence either.

Don't you think that is somewhat insensitive to say, considering a lady was just killed in remarkably similar circumstances in Calgary. The only differences in this incident, was that it was a cellphone not $100 worth of gas, and the victim was shot, not driven over.

The victim would have had no idea the suspects would be armed. These things are extremely rare.

Considering thousands of handguns a month are being smuggled into our country we better start upping the jail time for possession of illegal guns...right now it's just a slap on the Pekker.

I think another key difference is that in the Ontario case, it wasn't a situation where the victim had to make a decision on the spot or whose job was threatened by it. In the Ontario case, he had some time to think about the proper actions to take.

The police pretty much came out and said the same thing, so I don't think it is too out of line.

Any back-up on this claim?

And if you do have supporting evidence, any evidence that the rate of gun smuggling into our nation has increased in the last 10 years? This is equally important as if gun smuggling always occurred at near the current rates, your implication that things are about to get a whole lot worse is invalid.

Makes me sad to think that people kill each other over a cell phone

Considering he couldn't/wouldn't response to Kavvy, I am going to suggest he is just blathering on.

Muhab Sultanaly Sultan might have vanished in Ottawa river, police say

Police in Ottawa and London, Ont., are investigating whether a man thought to have drowned in the Rideau River is Muhab Sultanaly Sultan, who is wanted in the London cellphone slaying of Jeremy Cook.

Each force said it has launched an investigation into whether a man's body, which police divers continue to search for, belongs to 23-year-old Sultan of Calgary.
