One thing about the Germans is they still play as a team, like the Italians(not good enough this time) they have a great national team organization and when they play it kind of looks like a club team. They just had a bad game.

Both Brazil and Argentina looked like all star teams, no real team play. A couple of great individual efforts lead to goals but that is it. Based on todays action I would have to say that England looks like a team, which is rare. I think a lot of this generation grew up playing together in U21, U18 teams etc..

Give Mehico credit. They executed a great game plan.

Germany just need to tighten up defensively and they will be fine.

Group G is a bit of a joke, and one of England or Belgium will likely not have to play a top team till the semis. Assuming Brazil gets their act together. Though that's a bit of a tough group.

3 minutes in and a Colombian player is red carded for a handball in the box, he saved a goal Suarez style. Japan converts the penalty and they're up 1-0!

Columbia could not have gotten off to a worse start. This is going to be a huge upset.

There's the first red card of the tournament, in the 4th minute of Japan, Colombia. Pretty blatant and easy call for the ref.

Well, that's certainly the worst start of the tournament.

The 2nd fastest red card in Cup history.

The Colombians are really going for it though, they have controlled most of the possession despite being a man down. Wonder how long they can keep it up.

Last night, I was really looking forward to watching this game...then James ended up on the bench... Now a red card so early has really been the death knell for this game being entertaining. Ugh.

Tough to tell Japan are the team with the extra man, Colombia still look more likely to win this.

Nice free kick but a horrible call to set it up. Now we have a game!

Perhaps I spoke too soon. Crazy free kick! It's not too often you see a player with the courage to try going under the wall.

This has been a surprising tactical battle. Japan's ultra conservative anti-football vs Colombia's creative desperation. Japan have not even hinted at an attack since they went up. What will they do now?

Japan beginning to show their numerical superiority. Let's see if it results in a goal.

Wow! I was hoping the Aussies would become the first ever Asian team to beat a South American one.

Saving the goal like Suarez did in the 90 whatever minute makes sense.

Doing it in the 3rd minute for the hope that your goalie can save the penalty but then having to play 10 men for 87 minutes was just stupid.

He keeps his hand down and lets that go in and my guess is Columbia still comes back to win.
