Hoping it'll die down to normal fast food restaurant levels soon, not interested in a 20+ minute wait to grab lunch.

It did replace an existing KFC so there is a base level of need for fried chicken in the area. I also think chicken has a wider base audience than things like donuts and burgers, especially in the NE area. Fast food sales also go up in times of economic recession as that becomes the "eating out" for a family instead of more expensive restaurants. I think it will stay relatively popular for some time.

I've eaten at Popeyes in the US (and once in Hong Kong lol) about a dozen times, and I've never had the gravy.
What would you even put the gravy on? The biscuit? Hot sauce is all that goes on my chicken.

What did you put it on? I didn't get fries because I got the red beans & rice. Like Nik, I only use the hot sauce the chicken.

What do you mean? KFC is still open along with Mary Browns, Chicken Friotou and Chicken on the Way all within 5 blocks.

I think you're misremembering, the KFC is a couple blocks east and still open. Popeyes replaced the old Taco Time.
EDIT: Yeah, Rakweon covered. It actually might be the most densely populated fried chicken area in Calgary. I actually went to the Fritou Chicken (which is awesome chicken btw) on one of the first days of popeyes. It was hilarious as it was their first day open too, and it was literally just me in there, meanwhile hundreds of people huddled around the doors across the street.

Dipped the chicken and tenders in it. Also, mixed some hot sauce into the gravy at home and experienced spicy chicken enlightenment, went well with home made mashed potatoes too. The hot sauce i mixed in was a pretty strong habanero (8k-10k scoville) so I didn't have to use much.

Yup, weird Taco Bell too, why red not the traditional purple? Or were they all red before?
Looks like it's been closed for a couple years as well, had to go back past 2014 on Google Maps to find an open shot.

That's what they all looked like when Taco Bell first came to Calgary in the early 90s. They changed their logo a couple years later.

Yeah, I saw that today too when I was out there. Might be dangerous to my health to have those biscuits so close.

Must have been close to twenty vehicles at the drive through on Thursday night when I drove past around 10pm.

I'm going to say that 14th Street Kensington/Beltline gives the title a run...
- Chicken on the Way
- Cluck & Cleaver
- Olive Chicken
- Fritou (by 5th Ave NW)
- Wow Chicken (on 10th)
- KFC on 17th / 12th St

Popeye's is being sued by someone accusing the chain of selling her an order of rice and beans which were infested with a flesh eating parasite that is eating her stomach from the inside.

Tim Hortons wants to buy Popeye's. So enjoy the good food while it lasts?

Do you think they will start selling breakfast sandwiches and bagels or something?

More like they will take out everything that is good in it, and turn it into bland institutionalized hospital food.
Honestly though, I assume they would just allow it to run as it currently is. Nothing to worry about.
