Default Lucic considered quitting in November

Can’t believe this hasn’t been posted here so mods please delete if it has and I just couldn’t find it (using Tapatalk - search function not as useful)

https://flamesnation.ca/2020/02/16/m...g-in-november/

Sounds like a Peters issue, and some of his teammates pulled him through. Also about the lift playing with Dube has given him.

Cap people: if Lucic retires after say next season, what’s the cap penalty? Don’t know why he would but eating popcorn for the last three or four years of his deal is a pretty undignified way to wrap up a career.

If Lucic retires there is no cap penalty.

Didn’t come across as a serious thought.

I didn’t watch so maybe no news here. Same time, does he cling on to the last years of that deal? Hard to see him being on the ice for most of it. He’s not getting faster.

Nice as it would be to free up $5.25 million in cap space, losing Lucic would still hurt the Flames.

That's insane. As long as they put that cap space to good use and didn't sign yet another plug, it would absolutely help the team, like a lot.

I don’t agree. Good guy but that AAV is a huge anchor and is stopping us from getting things we need.

If they did a proper rebuild and Looch retired, they could use that cap space in so many ways...as good of a guy as he is, it would be amazing for the Flames.

Dammit, Peters could of been useful a while longer then.

I'm not saying that Lucic outweighs the benefits that losing his cap hit would provide.

Just saying, Lucic is a good player and it would suck to lose him. It would be great in the bigger salary picture if he retired, but he still provides a unique mix of talents. He is a valuable presence, even if massively overpaid. I would be sad to see him go.

Lucic is certainly overpaid for his role but at the same time we need more players who can win board battles and net front battles not less.

I don’t know that he’s a good player any more, but he’s a good presence and influence. but he’s about 3x overpaid

I am guessing that from the 11 to the 14th he considered quitting, and then the 15th came and he looked at the $200,000 or so deposit and thought wow, this is pretty sweet.

Seriously, I can’t see the flames missing him in any aspect if he was to quit, get bought put whatever.

Is there a link to the interview anywhere? They usually have it on r/calgaryflames but it's not there this time.

He's an excellent ingredient for a team at 1.5M. Not so much at a top 6 price tag.

Shedding 5.25 would sure be more useful to the Flames and would allow them to easily fit Hall in if he does have interest in coming here.

Maybe if the year ends in a bit of a thud he calls it quits.

But I've liked what he's brought since the ASB outside of the Edmonton game at home. But again..... 5.25 in space is more valuable.

I thought it did, even Scott Oake sounded taken aback.

Interesting to hear who he thanked....and those he didn't.

There is a big difference between considering the thought of something and taking action.

I’m glad Lucic is finding his niche. Always believed he likely offered more than what Edmonton had reduced him to.

Another unsurprising indictment on Peters, and also something for people who don’t want to see leadership qualities in Monahan
