Default Busted phone recovery

I recently dropped my trusty Nexus 6 phone and absolutely blew up the screen. Large parts of the screen no longer even function and the other parts are a mess.

The default action when plugging my phone into a computer is to charge via USB. In order to switch it over to pull data off my phone I need to unlock my phone, which I can't do because I can't actually use most of my screen. Is there a way around this? Some way to access the phone through my computer that'll allow me to enter my passcode or pull the data (pictures and such) off my phone.

Thanks

The only other is I can't see 90% of my screen. However for $7 it's worth a shot. Thanks.

Would this work? I am sure there must be programs you can use to unlock the phone from a computer.

Any chance you have a custom recovery installed or even ADB enabled?

I didn't set anything up for recovery, and seeing as I have no idea what the ADB is, nope. lol

I suppose I could spend $200 on a new screen, but that seems like an expensive fix. lol

This article is what you're looking to do, right? I believe the section regarding the VNC program might be what you're looking for.

EDIT: Or even this seems very similar to your situation
