Am I the only one confused by this "franchise player" Karl is updating us on the Leafs progress? Why is he posting on Calgary Puck? Is he a closet Flames fan or what? Hey Karl no offense but what is the deal? Just need a little clarification

Help, save, whatever.

Pretty solid job by the Leafs. Road game in Buffalo. 6th game in 10 days and played in Nashville last night. Good effort. Hopefully they can play more games like that.

Would you rather face the Jets or Preds in the playoffs? Jets scare me, I hope they finish second so as they might be out first round facing Stars/Blues.

Am I the only who thinks yes the Jets would be a tough playoff matchup, but I still think the Flames could take them out. Flames are really good!

Seven posts might be a little much but it is in the proper place lol
Leafs finally squeak out a win against a terrible team and their fans are out in full force...this losing streak had really gotten to them
Remember July 1? Many on CP were basically conceding the cup to the Leafs...how awesome is it the Flames will end up finishing higher in the standings

Are the lightning human?
Do they ever take a night off? Do they lose an OT/SO since the calendar turned? They've already won the season.
Will be funny if they finally let off in april after all that.

I'm surprised I haven't seen more talk about them here this season
They have 8 games left. If they win 6 of them (which they are more than on pace for), they will set the record for most wins in a season ever, one more than Detroit in 2005-06. They lost to the Oilers in the first round (ouch).
If they win all 8 of them, they will have achieved the most points by a team ever in the history of the league, one more than the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens. Which was regarded as the best season in the NHL ever (more than statistically). They won the cup.

the Lightning are having a phenomenal season, no question. one we haven't seen in a while
the 76-77 habs lost 8 games though and had a goal differential of greater than +200 I believe. that was certainly the best season of my hockey viewing lifetime

Yeah as great as they are, the 77 Canadiens are on another level. Having overtime really does inflate win/point totals.
Food for thought: let's take away OT/SO and pretend those games are ties.
Tampa's record becomes 45-13-16. If we assume they continue at the same pace until game 80 (the amount they played in 1977), they'll finish with a record of 49-14-17, good for 115 points.
Calgary's record becomes 40-21-12. If we assume they continue at the same pace until game 80, they'll finish with a record of 44-23-13, good for 101 points.
In 1977, Montreal finished with a record of 60-8-12 for their 132 points.
So under the same rules, Tampa would have a 14 point lead on Calgary, and '77 Montreal would have a 17 point lead on Tampa. So if Tampa was literally twice as far in front of the rest of the league, they'd still be a hair behind that team. Just ridiculous.

Canucks are now only 4 points back of the last wildcard spot with tonight's win. Still in it.

Meh. Karl's alright.
He's a Leaf's fan, but I don't get the sense he's a troll.
