All I can get

I think the way you look at this is that he's a player for Stockton. Probably could make more $ in Europe, but he likes his chances. So that bodes well.

As noted in Backburner thread on us potentially signing him, I really liked "Cool Hand" Luke Philp back in his draft year when I was doing prospect profiling (sounds like stalking!) - watched him quite a bit live in the Dub. Be really cool if he gets a shot at the pro level.
- link to an article I did 5 yrs ago; had to take a pause on the sportswriting couple years back - just not enough time to dedicate to it)

I would add one other anecdote about Philp, when he was traded near the deadline in his 20 year old season to Red Deer he was named Captain of his new club upon arrival. Not sure how many times that happens at any level of hockey.

We've gone overboard with Mike's on our team. Maybe we need an injection of Philip's, phillips, and Filip's

Allan Mitchell, also known as LoweTide, a writer for The Athletic, blogger and radio personality for TSN 1260 from Edmonton, says he had Philp at 73 in the 2014 draft. He does his rankings based heavily on math and cites his very good and consistent numbers in junior as a reason for his ranking. He also said from everything he’s heard, Philp was the best player on the ice every game during his university career.
A commentator for the Golden Bears called him the Patrick Kane of the league if people are interested in knowing the style of player. It sounds like he’s very high on skill and smarts, at least compared to U Sports players.

Powerplay Quarterback

Don't know if I missed someone else saying so, but some of a interview with him on global or ctv, yesterday, and they mentioned that he grew up being a Flames fan, and dreamed of playing for them. Also read a bit in the Edmonton Sun where they mentioned that also.

It all depends on how the player handles the music when they first arrive

I was wondering about this, with Luke being from Canmore, Alberta. That's awesome!
I love hearing this story, when one of our prospects are living their childhood dream, playing for the team/organization they grew up cheering for.
Matthew Phillips (born in Calgary) and Mathias Emilio Pettersen are two others that grew Flames fans.
Here's Philp's contract details.
