You can usually tell pretty quick on these guys if they'll cut it. If he spends more than a month in the ECHL to start next year he's probably a washout.

He'll be one to watch at the development camp in july, that's for sure.
Hopefully he looks like one of the top players there. If that's the case, he should be a possible guy who might develop. If he looks middle of the pack, he probably is just going to be a useful depth AHL guy.

Do you mean the NHL or the AHL playoffs? I am thinking if his injury heals in time, the Flames might want to have him join the Heat for the AHL playoffs? However, I don't know if they can do that. Would someone with better knowledge of the rules tell me what the Flames can do?
Check the AHL standings. Unfortunately your question is pretty much irrelevant. Heat aren't going to make the playoffs.
I knew nothing about him going into the USports last weekend and he was impressive. Good skater with what looked as though strong hockey sense. Didn't seem to have a hard shot, but was more right place, right time type of player. Good free asset for Calgary
Watched Luke throughout his junior career. He is a smart hockey player who thinks the game at an elite level. Was the best player on a bad Canmore team in his 16 year old year. PPG player in his draft year. Downfalls if any was size and skating, which I am sure he has improved. Doubt he makes the team next year but should be a top six player in the AHL. Definitely a worthwhile project for the Flames.

Suck it Oilers fans! They smugly thought Philp would sign there because there is an undeniable connection between the Golden Bears and the Oilers. Another loss in a never ending string of losses for the Oilers this season. Soooooooo sweet!
I had the chance to watch the tender on the Bears when he would swing Regina with the MJ Warriors. That Sawchenko kid has shockingly good and improving numbers. I'm surprised no pro scout has tried to pry him to go pro.
Sorry to hijack a bit but I absolutely LOVE that president of OBC propaganda bob stauffer is floating the idea of signing 35 year old bouwmeester next off season. The barrel of laughs in edmonton never ends!
Looking forward to seeing what philp does in pro training camp. Good numbers his entire dub career, could just be one of those guys who slipped through the cracks.
