Default Old Malls in or Near Calgary

Hey Team!

Hope you’re all staying safe and well. Can anyone think of a mall in Calgary that seems stuck in the 1980’s? My band and I want to film a cheesy mall video once it’s safe to do so, and I’m wracking my brain for a location. If you’ve seen the video for Tiffany’s version of “I Think We’re Alone Now”, that’s the kind of corniness we’re going for. I feel like most of our malls are up to date. So far, the best I can come up with is Beddington Towne Centre, Marlborough Mall or Northland Mall. Thanks for any ideas!!!

I haven't been to the mall in Deer Ridge (has the Co-Op in it), but that might fit your needs

Northland Village, North Hill, and Westbrook are the first ones that come to mind for me.

Brentwood Mall was pretty ancient looking last time I was in it.

What? You went to a physical location to purchase a digital product?

But why?

They specialize in vintage games. Probably have the biggest selection of NES, Atari, etc. games in the city.

I think Oakridge Mall still has the brown brick flooring from the 70s, but it's pretty small and doesn't have many stores. Sounds like it's being demolished for condos soon.

Is Midnapore Mall still around? I grew up in that community (in the 80s) but haven't been back in years. Would be perfect for you if its the same way it was.

Strip mall now too. They put a night club in it, which wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Probably closed now though.

North Hill looks more like it's stuck in the '90s than the '80s. Not dark or red brick enough.
