Bought 10 shares of AMC at $9.69 USD 6 weeks ago. I only wanted it to climb to 15 LOL, but it’s quadrupled my expectation. Meme stocks for the win boys.
This has caused the iShare Russell 2000 ETF to go up in price by a fair margin.
Also ones making a big jump:
Sundial making a comeback
Bed, Bath and Beyond has jumped a lot in price too

Sold my BB.TO position today at $19 and change.
Was holding the bag at $17 average cost for some time after the first hype.
I guess we'll see if I will regret this tomorrow

Almost all of them. Most are up close to 20% over the past month, over 50% the past six month.

Does IPL go higher from here?
You'd have to think Pembina would raise it's offer.

AMC went up 95% in one day, don't think I've seen a stock do that before. Sorry to people that sold off but you can't beat yourself up no one can see the future. It could have gone down to $5 and stayed there for a year.
My reasoning for buying is once things open up naturally revenues will return. I had no idea it would become the next meme stock.

Yeah, I was happy to make money, and did well/ But when it goes up that much after you sell, it's kind of hard to ignore.

I hold some of the bigger ones, but they have seen a constant increase. CNQ, SU, CVE all up around 15% over the last month

^^^I mean we saw GME do it already this year. Doge isn't a stock but it's gone up more than 100% in a day. If there's any lesson here it's retain some liquidity to be ready to move quick on these meme stocks because you gotta act fast to get in at a good level.

Most places that actually manufacturer most things are way behind our timeline. Bike parts are still ~400 days behind. The whole microchip issue is pushing some products back 1-2 years.
I don't see that demand crashing until early next year at the absolute earliest.
I also don't think the CERB/mortgage defaults will be anywhere close to what people expected. We're already long past banks holding mortgage payments and seeing very little fallout. I think the people that worked 3x more hours in the last year, transfers from parents, inheritance, pandemic wage increases, etc are going to far outweigh the opposite.
|
Moreso saying the manufacturing backlogs dictate that there is basically 0 risk of a steep down turn in the next 4 months. The shear momentum being built up in supply chains to try to catch up would take at least 4 months to stop, so base manufacturing levels will keep the economy humming for at least that long.
Things could keep going and things could turn down, but I wouldn't worry about a down turn this summer.

If it makes you feel better I did basically the same thing with GME.

Agreed; but they will be releasing their financials by the 15th, and they just announced they purchased MediSure (manufacturer for diabetes devices), and they're beginning to open up their clinics now (with 22 in the pipeline). This one is a long play. I'm holding, the long term potential on this one is bright. Definitely not good if you're into day trading / looking for a quick buck though.

Today was crazier. Up 30%, over 100M shares traded.
Dumb question: Yahoo shows the number of shares outstanding as 140M and 100M were traded today. Is there a way to figure out how many of the 140M was traded or alternatively, how many of the 100M were traded multiple times? Does that data exist?
